THE MASTER COUTURE TARUN TAHILIANI OPENED
THE THIRD EDITION OF AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK 2012 WITH A DAZZLING COUTURE BRIDAL COLLECTION
Known for his glamorous creations that have been seen in the wardrobes of top Indian and global celebs, Tarun Tahiliani, The Czar of Couture, dazzled the audience on the opening day of the Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2012. The shop stopper was the very lovely Chitrangada Singh in a sensational ivory net lehenga, choli and dupatta creation splashed lavishly with crystals and sequins. He showcased this collection in his Bridal Exposition two months back HERE
Tarun, whose creations have revived the beauty of India’s rich heritage, brought in his opulent touches for the bridal collection. Having created a sensation in the fashion capitals of the East and West, Tarun’s impeccable construction and craftsmanship were the cynosure of his collection.
The very innovative U shaped 70 ft ramp was turned into a virtual Garden of Eden with foliage, creepers and greenery swirling down from the ceiling and around the stage. Clumps of delicate plants hung from the walls lit with tiny circular bulbs. Blue fairy lights twinkled around the ramp. As the lights dimmed, the lit bushes rose up to the ceiling to the strains of melodious music and the gentle voice of Sonam Kalra, the trained opera and Hindustani singer.
Against a backdrop of painted temples and through the very earthy ambience with the audience sitting in the centre and around the amazing catwalk, the presentation featured 41 creations  inspired by the glamour of the 20s, which were created one for each model and dazzled with its beauty and grandeur.
The show opened with bare foot models in a glittering vision of tulle and silk for the most stunning lehengas and paneled long cholis. Scooped neck were sensuous while the paisleys and gorgeous embroidery twinkled under the ramp lights.
Draped net saris with superb craftsmanship, self designed brocade maroon saris with heavy crystal and sequined border, long gleaming velvet appliquéd covers with matching pants, peplum cholis, asymmetrical lehengas with churidars and sleeveless tunics over shot silk voluminous skirts were ultimate luxury wear. The collection has been a never ending line of utter genius from the studios of Tarun Tahiliani.
The eye-catching slim mermaid gown kurta, the draped net sari and blouse, the gold net crystal splashed bridal creation and the crystal and lace fantasy that was a pre-stitched sari could be only created by a master designer. Bringing in a hint of old world charm there were glamorous shararas with kurtis as well as a few sari gowns in bridal colours.
Keyhole jackets contemporary anarkalis in juicy citrus shades with meshes of Swarovski Elements while thread work added to the beauty of the creations. Embellishemnts were lavish with zardozi, sequins, antique gold work, clusters of crystals and appliqués which added to the beauty of the garments. Volume was the key word for the collection with just a few slim line kurtas with sexy low backs.
Men’s wear was as ornate with bundgalas and sherwanis favoured by Tarun and teamed with churidars or comfortable dhotis. The colour story was ideal for the wedding mood with reds as the predominant colour while fuchsia, rani pink, deep saffron, ivory, pink, peach, beige, maroon and black appeared in perfect harmony.
Presenting an utterly feminine line that had refined luxury combined with the grandeur of his embellishments, Tarun’s collection was a dream to behold.
It was a sensational opening of the Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2012 with Tarun Tahiliani’s ultimate collection for a bride when she walks around the sacred fire on the most important day of her life.
