Pearl_Portfolio_2018_1

Pearl Academy is the harbinger of fashion revolution with a futuristic outlook. The finale of FDCI Amazon India Fashion Week, 2018, became more exuberant with the creations of graduating students of Pearl Academy under the theme of ‘Future of Fashion’, presenting it as a day long ‘Pearl Academy Portfolio 2018′ fashion show series. They put up a set of 5 impressive shows. We enjoyed Show 1 which had highly appealing themes such as Indie – Fused, Azure Fantasy, Soul Fit, Textile Assemblage, Neutral Block, Lavender Mint, Blocks Divided, Prarie Tangerine, Femme Regale, Noir League, L’ Blanche, Dusk Strut and Bijoux by Jewellery Design students of Pearl Academy, Jaipur. Show 2 had an interesting range of themes and concepts such as, Summer Kaleidoscope, Welsh Summer, Yuppy Strut, Sci-Fi Street, Turmeric Tales, Vandalists, Aqua-Rouge, Rusted, Occult Force, Print & Patch and Tourmaline among others. The final year students of Fashion styling and Image Design showcased a highly thought out collection that combined the need for fashion sustainability with preservation of traditional Indian craft without compromising with the ever advancing fashion trends. The students are sensitive to both fashion culture and the power of fashion as a driver of social change. They conceptualized ‘Fashion as a voice for Social Activism’ by pairing it up with an elegant ‘Black Swan’ ballet performance. The young designers showed their prowess by creating exquisite costumes to convey body-positivity movements and gender aesthetics through it. Rajul Goldar brought our attention to environment-friendly fabrics that do not involve shedding of trees. He is spearheading a movement to bring about the face of forests on ramp along with promoting the use of non-cellulosic fabrics. The collection by Pallavi Yadav had a story of deconstructing of the garment and decorating it with zero-water embellishments. A luxrious collection – Tawaif – drew …

Style Partners – Tacfab Fashions

October 31, 2017
TacFab_Delh5

Fashion Weeks are those two weeks in a year when the fashion enthusiasts get into their best of attires, strutting their way through the crowd of those who cheer tassels and bomber jackets more than an elementary chaos of monochrome mundaneness that otherwise consumes us all. While we all wish to be in our best of attires 365 days of the month, these few select days are when we give in our 100% to look the best versions of ourselves. Keeping up with the requirements, and given the 2nd yearly season of the fashion week commences during the Indian festive season, I collaborated with Tacfab Fashions to be my style partners for one of the days of the fashion week. Tacfab Fashions Pvt. Ltd. operates under the parent company, Sahib Textiles, which is a 65 years old textiles house. They are into wholesale dress material and fabric manufacturing business since 1947. Tacfab specialises in ready-to-stitch, salwar kameez sets and dress material fabrics that infuse the latest trends with the ethnic silhouettes flawlessly. After spending an hour with the brilliant team of Tacfab Kamla Nagar and trying out an array of dresses, anarkalis, pakistani palazzo-kurti sets and some really amazing off-the-runway fusion dresses, I picked up this really vibrant Anarkali to wear to the fashion week. Their are so many things that I loved about this look. 1stly, the ombre dye-design of the Anarkali definitely anted up the design quotient manifolds. The fitting was absolutely complimenting around the torso with a voluminous skirt falling below the waist to floor lengths for added drama. The side slit of the Anarkali made me feel like the Indian Angelina Jolie at times (no kidding) while the hassled and embellished dupatta turned out to be the star of the overall look. The best part about …

VAMI Launches Web Series

May 24, 2017
VAMI1

I’m gonna be honest here! I love the denims trend, but their is so much that one can take during this summer heat. And the same goes for our clandestine affair with the blue distressed denims, that takes a break-up mode every time the temperature rises. So what exactly is the alternate of lowers, that is versatile enough to go as a daily wear and can pretty much be stretched out to the after-hours for some chugging wars and food-meets with friends? The answer is – VAMI! What’s Vami? It’s a lifestyle brand started in 2012, by the Bonjour Group. The brand deals in an array of churidar, ankle length leggings, capri and blouses. It has 15 exclusive brand outlets plus the entire product range is also available on e-commerce giants like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, etc. Speaking about the versatility of the products as far as styling them for different occasions is concerned, then the leggings work up as a great lower that can be worn with a formal shirt, a kurti, a chilled out top and a variety of other style experiments. What makes this line of leggings unique is its product quality that stretches out to give a comfortable fit to the wearer, without degrading the finesse of the fabric or making it look too stretched on the body. The double seaming gives a perfect finish to the product, making the wearer feel carefree all day. To bring quirk to their brand VAMI, Bonjour Group recently launched a web series which circles around ‘Yoga Postures’ and the fine quality of VAMI products. Vami encourages every woman who is a multi-tasker and frisking from home to office and back to steal a moment and indulge in asanans. The quirky version of yoga asanas that this web series focuses on are …

Summer Dress Affair with VAJOR

April 17, 2017
Vajor Dress_1

Summer Street Style essentials consist of cool colour palettes, comfortable silhouettes and Bohemian or Kitschy styles! While I adore the latter, my vibes are always strong towards a Bohemian take on summer trends. Their is something about the Rastafarian trend that makes it worth styling up season after season. And that’s the reason why I have partnered with Vajor.com, yet again, to bring about a ‘Street style OOTD’ that speaks volumes about the Boho style with just the right electric zest of Afghani accessories and comfort of tennis shoes for the woman of free spirit. I did another version of Summer Street Style with Vajor.com recently, when I wore a white embroidered shirt from their latest catalogue at the Amazon India Fashion Week. That was the first time I wore something from Vajor.com and absolutely fell in love with the brand. Not only do they use finest of the fabrics and the trendiest of designs, the fit is so comfortable yet complimenting, that even plus size women can flaunt Vajor designs with elan! Speaking about the dress that I am wearing in this OOTD, it’s White & Grey Embroidered Dress that is apt for a comfortable day out. The fabric used is Printed Rayon Twill with Modal lining. For a finer fit, the dress comes with a back zipper and A-Line fit. What I really liked about the silhouette was the boat neck style that complimented my face and statement earrings well. The fit is great, silhouettes comfortable, structured to fit the needs, subtle embroidery with marble faux stone embellishments for added drama and a colour palette mix of white and grey that suits the otherwise hot weather of Northern India. The dress also comes with a Tie-up Braided waist belt which I didn’t use to celebrate the free-flowing yet structured …

Vajor_OOTD1_7

Nothing can go wrong with a white shirt style. Period. And the versatility of this silhouette of androgynous style is such that you can flatter yourself wearing it in many different ways. Which is exactly what I experimented with at the Amazon India Fashion Week. Vajor.com happily agreed to be my style partners, sending over a box full of their stylish best and I simply grabbed the opportunity to stylise two looks for 2 days of the fashion week with just one embroidered white shirt from Vajor.com! How did I do it? Taking the star of my OOTDs, a Crispy white Rayon Dobby Embroidered Button Down Shirt from Vajor.com I created to looks that can be worn for a casual day out, a weekend brunch and even a cocktail evening rendezvous. LOOK 1 If you are looking for something comfortable yet structured, then balance the silhouettes well. The focus is on tucking the Embroidered White Shirt under a well fitted pair of denims, button up that collar and bedazzle it with a Turquoise Red Statement Necklace; finishing the look with a printed cover up and some more add-on accessories. This look works great if you are going out for the movies or brunch with besties (Sans the statement necklace) or simply going on a weekend lunch date with your beau. Adding colourful elements to match the shirt brings out the summer feel and makes the overall look more vibrant to the eyes. Speaking about the Beige & Mint Green Shrug from Vajor’s EARTHY QUIRK collection, the fit comes absolutely flawless, the earthy colour tones give a more soothing appeal and the Rayon Crepe fabric lets the body breathe even when worn for an entire day. The shrug comes with a tassled waist-ribbon to give more structure to the cover-up, but I …

Androgyny with Suit Fullstop

February 17, 2017
SuitFullStop_header

I am always fascinated by the structured make of a double-breasted ebony tuxedo. What really makes and breaks a formal suit is its stitch and fit. If the crease is too fitted or the stitch too elaborately done, it gives off the mannerism a formal suit demands, making the wearer look unfit and out of form. I might be a female, but I am one of those females who absolutely adorn befriending the Androgyny ways of style. Speaking about which, I have tried many a times to meet a brand or boutique that can magnify the feminine silhouette of me, while keeping up with the manly element of a tuxedo. Until now, I have been doped by many local boutiques who have failed in producing a suit that matches my expectations. Suit Fullstop is an e-commerce label that excels in every aspect of suiting up. Although it is a men’s trendsetting brand, the team did listen to my request on stitching up a tuxedo that really reflects my identity and gives me a great fit. So in case you’ve been wondering how an e-commerce boutique match your requirement of a designer formal suit, then you’ll be overwhelmed to know that the label does a fantastic job in delivering what we ask for. Worth mentioning that they have some physical stores in the country, established, as well! And to make the experience more unique and personal, Suit Fullstop offers ready-to-wear as well as customised formal suits to its customers. How does it work? Not only do they offer altering post delivery, their returns are easy to follow as well. But given their dedication towards delivering customisation that is up to the mark, their sure are any chances of needing any of the edits. Did I mention that they offer ‘Renting’ facility …

India Meets India – Online Shopping For A Cause

November 16, 2016
india-meets-india_header

How many times do we come across overly-hyped handloom products in the market and complain about the fact that the sellers scrape out a big chunk of the production unit’s earnings, leaving the workers struggling to meet the ends? It’s not like we don’t try to look out for first hand purchases, but it often becomes difficult to meet the craftsmen, given their geographic locations. Keeping up with the national trend of the decade ‘Make In India’ and encouraging the consumers to do something for the needful not with charity, but with empowerment, INDIA MEETS INDIA is a collaborative that brings consumers and craftsmen together on one platform. Not only does this online portal tap into local regions across the nation to bring forward regional craftsmanship, but also engages with many NGOs to provide a livelihood to the families. For people who now vouch by Organic Food intake can find joy in purchasing locally produced organic foods which are readily available on India Meets India. Right from the basic pulses and masalas to pickles and jams, it is being sourced from communities like Kilmora (A brand promoted by Kumaun Grameen Udyog), NGO Products (affiliated by the Coconut Development Board of India) and Holy Cow Foundation; to name a few. Speaking about promoting the ‘Handlooms’ of India, India Meets India has collaborated with communities like Adults with Autism, Rural Migrant People, Geriatric Groups, etc to give them a platform to sell their traditional weaving cultures. Check out some of the ‘Must Have’ fashionable items one should definitely own from their catalogue : They also have a great variety of handbags, that match the versatility of Indian clothing. We featured one of their sling bags in our Chandi Chowk OOTD a while back. Overall, this is a one honest website that connects the artisans of …

john-players-jeans_facebook

With the transition from warm weather to cooler winds is taking place in Northern India, the effect is evident on our wardrobes as well! Now is the time to bring out light jackets and denims out of our bunks to strike AW’16 in style. John Players by ITC is not just about good dressing, but they thrive to bring out menswear styles for the Indian market as well. Celebrating the evergreen trend of blue JEANS, John Players has introduced a diverse collection of Jeans that promise much more than just the distressed style. Inspired by global fashion, JOHN PLAYERS JEANS has introduced denim styles that will ante up a man’s style, effortlessly. With elements of colours like coral orange, gold moss, sour green and deep teal against Indigo Denims, the contrast can be tagged along as the coolest take on this rich menswear trend. So what can you expect from JOHN PLAYERS JEANS AW 2016 Collection? Patch on/off over embellishments, raw, distressed, laser printed and bleached impacts on denims that widely takes over the line. Hint of Scottish checks and Deep Navys can also be seen on some of the designs. We, the bloggers, too tried our hands on Patch-mixing techniques and splatter techniques to bring a fresh change of style to regular denims for men. The one thing that I personally derived out of this collection is the fact that their is a lot that can be experimented with with basic menswear trends; internationally and nationally. With John Players Jeans AW 2016 line I definitely look up to a fresh change in the way how men perceive style. Breaking the norm that prints and colour is a feminine thing, bold colour hues against Indian Motifs is charging up the way a man can dress up. What’s versatile about this collection …
