To give them the flavours of their hometown, DoubleTree by Hilton Pune Chinchwad proudly promotes MIYUKI as their standalone Japanese restaurant in Pune city. It’s not just in the food, but the decor of the place, a private dining space with authentic Japanese cutlery being imported from the mainland and a dedicated Chef storming up some authentic Japanese flavours on the Teppan grill that makes the entire experience quite unique. Serenade WelcomHotel Bella Vista, Panchkula

April 27, 2016
Serenade_Breakfast Spread 7

Serenade is an all-day dining restaurant by WelcomHotel Bella Vista, an ITC Group property. While I have already covered the entire property coverage on my Youtube channel, I had to invest in an exclusive blog article featuring just the food that Bella Vista has to offer. Situated right next to the Panchkula – Chandigarh roadway, Serenade WelcomHotel Bella Vista is no less than a food paradise amidst the scenic beauty of Shivalik Mountain range and the European architecture of the property itself. The first time you sit down for a meal at Serenade, you will definitely expect the typical Punjab-Haryana flavours to tantalize your taste buds. Not to forget the expectations of having a big chunk of the menu devoted to the non-vegetarian cuisines. Flavours of the Region Well, I had a similar perspective as I sat down with Mr. Avinash Deshmukh, the General Manager of Bella Vista; while I quitely anticipated the meals to follow up. Chef Manohar welcomed by presenting the first meal to speak about the ‘Flavours of the Region’. The course commenced with tender and flavoursome servings of Amritsari Fish that was tandoored to perfection. Next up, was ‘Tamatar Aur Dhania Ka Shorba’ which in a lay-man’s world is termed as a basic tomato soup; although the smoky and tangy flavours of this soup were definitely rich and content. For main course I had Murgh Mumtaz (Butter Chicken) and I have to admit that this is one of the best Butter Chicken preparations that I’ve had in a really long time. The king curry was supplemented with Subz Panchmel (seasoned vegetables cooked with onion and tomatoes), the traditional Dal Maharani and an array of tandoori naans. The meal was concluded with a generous serving of Gulab Jamun with their homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Now, for a standard …

Swissôtel Kolkata – Review

March 23, 2016
Swissotel Kolkata Pool

Travelling anywhere in the world is judged on the parameters of being a success or otherwise, based on the mode of stay. If one is able to eat well and sleep well throughout the journey, the trip definitely ends on a happy note. Swissôtel Kolkata is one such property in the newly established area of Kolkata, that promises a comfortable stay with almost every aspect of amenities one can demand for. I will call this property the perfect business traveller’s abode and a couple’s romantic escape! Business Traveller’s abode because it is situated nearby the airport and gives access to all business related protocols that a company can expect. A couple’s romantic escape because it is situated away from the hustle bustle of the city life, offers exquisite Bengali flavours, has a club to unwind at and rooms with private pools to romance at. Right from trying out flavours of Bengali cuisine to celebrating Halloween at a Rain Dance Party, I had a gala time residing at Swissôtel Kolkata throughout my stay. About the Property Swissôtel Hotel Kolkata is located in the New Town area of the city, which is approximately 10 minutes away from the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.  The hotel comprises of 147 elegantly designed guest rooms, which includes luxurious suites with landscaped deck and open Jacuzzi. The hotel is perfect for hosting Business conferences and offers conference halls measuring 7064 sq. ft. As per the current norms of constructing hotels, Swissôtel Hotel Kolkata too has a massive shopping mall attached to it. The architecture is such that the mall’s crowd and noise doesn’t interfere with the workings of the hotel at any time. The mall turned out to be a blessing for me, since I forgot to carry my memory card while travelling. The Bars & Restaurants Swissôtel …

Vistara Airlines – My Travel Experience

March 2, 2016
Vistara Airlines My Experience

Gone are the days when travelling by flight meant shelling out a big chunk of your hard earned money. With plenty of airlines and a complex network of flight schedules operating nationally, aircraft as a mode of travel has come down to a more pocket friendly option in the current times. I have been travelling all my life and still find myself being all excited about boarding a train or an airplane, every single time! But one thing that has degraded over time is the food quality of the airlines. No matter how much you pay for your ticket, the food quality remains average with no scope of improvement whatsoever. Their have been times when I have picked up a slice of pizza or some sandwiches before boarding a flight, only to avoid the kind of tasteless food that they serve in-flight. Now Vistara is comparatively a newer airline group that many of my travel friends haven’t experienced yet. So when I got my ticket from Mumbai – Delhi booked on this airline, I tried asking around my friends about their experience with it. Being a foodie and a blogger, I tend to ‘review’ almost everything. Well, you’ll be happy to know that this airline actually turned out to be a great experience for me and I absolutely wish to return again for some more of their hospitality. First things first, they have ample leg space, which is a big concern for tall people like myself (I am 5’11) so this came in as a welcome sign indeed! Now most of us are aware of the usual service of ‘regular water’ in cups in other airlines. Vistara maintained their niche of hospitality by welcoming everyone on board with some packed water bottles. With no hopes of getting a proper dinner, …

The Resort Mumbai – Hotel Review

February 22, 2016
The Resort Mumbai

While many people consider Mumbai as an extremely busy and noisy city, the land of Bollywood has an otherwise peaceful side to it as well. Over the years, I have visited/stayed in Mumbai many times, but have never experienced a more relaxed and serene part of Mumbai till now. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that I recently visited Mumbai to attend an event and soak under the Mumbai’s winter sun. And while I was at it, The Resort Mumbai’s team invited me over to conclude my travel on a ‘vacation mode’.

Sewara Pushkar_Property1

‘Luxury in the lap of nature.’ – That’s how I’m going to define the beautiful Pushkar Resorts. This great amalgamation of providing excellent boarding facilities amidst the natural habitat of the Rajasthan region has truly been one of its kind experience for me. Not only was I mesmerized by the colourful township and vegetation of Pushkar, but I also felt absolutely pampered by the warm hospitality of the regional staff. Introducing to you Pushkar Resorts by Sewara Hospitality group. Constructed in 1998 as a mere stopover, Pushkar Resorts has ever since group over into a full fledged working resort with luxurious amenities that go unmatched for miles in that rugged region. For those who look for comfortable lodging even when they are out nature-watching, Sewara Pushkar Resorts set in one such amalgamated example. A couple of weeks back, I was invited over to their monsoon-hit property for a rural experience that promised serenity and luxury; both at the same time. And boy were they right! Right from their welcoming rose & cucumber drinks to their farewell meal, the entire 3 day experience is worth documenting. PROPERTY Designed by Indrek Roy, the property is mostly flavoured with its natural vegetation. The lodging buildings, restaurant and reception buildings have been constructed in a manner that doesn’t block the breathtaking view of the Aravallis. Spread across a land of 15 acres, it is a treat to take a stroll across the pathways, listening to the chirping of the birds and soaking in the sun and the wind of Rajasthan. Mr. Rajesh Mandal, manager, made sure that we get a detailed walk through of the entire property with additional information on the type of vegetation that can be found to the technical details of the rooms and other services. LODGING The property comprises of 40 …

Fine Dining Restaurants In Jaipur

April 23, 2015
Kalapalette_19

Rajasthan is one such state of India that is purely crowned with the royalty that Bharat cherished couple of centuries back. Still immensely rich with heritage and regal beauty, Rajasthan has a lot more to offer than just landscapes of desert and folklores. The heart of Rajasthan, Jaipur, is a colourful city which is still popularly addressed as the ‘Pink City’ and has so much to offer; when it comes to hospitality. Talk about the Fine Dining Restaurants in Jaipur and many prestigious names pop up on the search engine. Mostly set up to serve the international tourists, a few of them have preserved the old Rajasthani charm with a fusion of fine-dining experience. Following is a list of some of my personal favourite fine-dining restaurants in Jaipur that you can visit and indulge in some lip-smacking gourmet traditional cuisines: 1135 AD  image source : happytrips  The name might seem a little confusing, but wait till you actually get there. Nestled amidst the land of Amer Palace, this romantic fine-dining restaurant is sure to charm anyone who visits it in the evening. Try out their Rajasthani specialty – Murgh Ka Sula or Mushroom Galouti Kebab for small portions. If you have a big appetite to curb, then try out their ‘Thaal – E – Amber’ which is served on a traditional silver thaali. Tip: Don’t forget to watch the light & sound show of Amer, while you’re at it. Peshawri by ITC Rajputana Hotel  image source : itchotels A paradise for kebab lovers, that’s how I am going to define this fine-dining restaurant. A true Mughalai delight, non-vegetarian lovers can expect an array of mutton curries and tandoori items served with gourmet naan breads. Can vouch by their version of Bukhara, Barrah Kabab and Dal Peshawri. The ambience is contemporary with earthy interiors to make the dining experience …

Zarin – Indo Persian Restaurant, Fairmont Jaipur (Review)

April 16, 2015
Kalapalette 8

If you think eating Butter – Chicken and Seekh kababs brings you any closer to the Persian way of dining, you are absolutely wrong! Their is much more to this Mid-Eastern way of serving gourmet than you can tantalize your taste buds with. Bringing in the rich culture and authentic way of cooking & serving Indo-Persian food has been introduced, first time in India, by Fairmont Jaipur.  I was honoured much to have been invited to review the same and experience a journey to the middle-east!  ZARIN The newest entrant to arrive on the Rajasthani dining scene – Zarin, the Indo-Persian restaurant at Fairmont Jaipur, breathes life into a culinary art that has, over centuries, celebrated the fusion of two of the most ancient cultures in Asia. A name inspired by the Persian word for gold, Zarin offers diners a distinctive and enriching culinary experience. According to Chef Singh, “steeped in tradition, Zarin will capture the imagination of diners by taking them on a journey through a bygone era that has influenced our cuisine in countless ways.”  The dining experience at Zarin can be best described as indulgent owing to the eclectic ambience that complements the food. While guests soak their hands in lavish bowls of scented water, strewn with rose petals, awaiting the start of their meal they are serenaded by the sights and sounds of the nearby Emperor’s Bazaar with treasures from the cultural riches of Rajasthan. Folk dancers, story tellers and sufi singers lull diners into a hypnotic trance, as exhaustive selections from the menu appear dramatically on swords and as such, are robust with flavour and history. From Sheermal and Bakarkhani – traditional breads to the live tandoor and succulent preparations of Aab Gosht (succulent morsel of lamb cooked with chick peas), Mastava (a hearty lamb …
