As the Delhi winters settle in and 1st December marks the beginning of the holiday season, it’s time to bring out your stylish (warm) best. This means that the weekends at the malls and apparel stores are getting busier and merrier.
With brands trying to present their Holiday-AW’14 best, some have taken up the experience one step ahead and are offering their customers a more interactive experience.
Marks & Spencer known for its range of party wear and casual day wear across different age categories, collaborated with me recently for one such day of fun and styling. I was invited to be their stylist for a day, and boy what a day it was!
7 hours gone by, didn’t even realize the time ticking and the enthusiasm M&S loyals showed up made me want for some extra interaction time.

What was my motive?
To engage with Marks & Spencer customers and provide them a more fashionable shopping experience. From providing styling tips, introducing the customer to the Autumn-Winter trends of the season to helping them put-up a holiday/winter look for the season; the experience was full of zeal.
What was the activity module?
Interact with the customers.
Give them style tips.
Suggest them the right garments as per their body-type and requirements.
Invite them to pose for the shutterbugs and win a goodie bag from M&S.
Commonly asked questions?
1. Will a particular apparel look good on me?
2. What should I wear for the New Year’s this year?
3. Being a college student, what daily winter jackets do you suggest?
4. How can I add some style to my mundane work-wear?
5. I need comfort yet style. What day looks will you suggest?
My Experience interacting with the customers?
Honestly, shopping for most of us is a stress buster. And if in such a time of nirvana-ish engagement a total stranger taps on and offers you some style tips – bewilderment!
But, I was quite surprise to learn that most of the customers were welcoming enough to take up my style tips.
Something that I heard the store manager mentioning was that mostly they receive loyal customers over the weekends. Was he right, or was he right? I met a couple of customers who actually told me that they shop from Marks & Spencer out-and-out! This basically shows the trust M&S customers have on this brand. Impressive much.
Overall, I had a great time interacting with the M&S customers learning about their loyalty towards the brand. Not just that, but I was very happy looking at the collection that M&S is offering for the holiday season too.
If you too are thinking of doing some style-holiday shopping, then make a stop at any of the M&S stores and ask their team to guide you through. The staff is well trained to suggest you apparels according to your requirement and some of them offer interesting style tips too!
