Bella Cucina, Le Meridian Gurgaon

November 25, 2016
065-food-1

We Indians are still warming up to the Italian palette. While we’ve had pizzas and pastas all our lives, this European region has much more than just the P’s to offer when it comes to Italian cuisine. Add a spin of gourmet touches to the palette, and we have Bella Cucina, the newest addition to Le Meridian Gurgaon, offering finest of the Italian blends in a luxurious fine-dining setup (of course). Call it the amalgamation of Starwood – Marriott hospitality or the need to have Gourmet Italian Addition to the ever exploding lineage of dining in Gurgaon (or Guru Gram), Bella Cucina is abiding by the Italian culture in its purest complexity and bringing it to our palettes; on a daily basis. Thanks to the excellent efforts by Chef Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury and Sous Chef Amit Kumar, Bella Cucina is churning out some of the finest ricetta on our piatto! BELLA CUCINA, in Italian, means ‘Beautiful Kitchen’ which stands true to the word because of the restaurant’s imported Molteni design, customised based on the Chef’s requirements. And to celebrate the opening of Bella Cucina over Italian dining and wine, we had an array of ricetta crafted by Executive Chef Suprabhath Roy Chowdhury and animatedly presented by Sous Chef Amit Kumar. For antipasti and soup we were served ‘Cappuccino of Mushroom’ served with a mushy portion of Porcini Brioche. If you adore the flavour of mushroom then you will definitely fall in love with this soup. Unlike other thick mushroom soups, this one is medium in its consistence which brings out the flavours more and doesn’t leave you feeling fuller already. I loved the smokiness that has been blended with the mushroom concoction which goes perfectly well with the buttery Porcini Brioche. The next thing on the menu was ‘Caprese Salad’ …

Himalaya Herbals Lip Care Range

Himalaya Lip Care Complete

Lip care is on top of every girl’s mind and it is incomplete without a decent lip balm. Not to mention the role of a lip balm when it teams up with Kajal to give us that minimal look we all are always vying for! I keep no inhibitions in admitting that chapped lips make me really uncomfortable. Moreover, it keeps me distracted from whatever I am supposed to be doing. Being an admirer of non-artificial stuff, I always seek 100% natural products. However, most of the brands available in market use petroleum and silicone substances and contain preservatives. My aunt understood the issues I had and suggested me to try Himalaya Herbals Lip Care range. A combination of safety and satisfaction in a product was hard to find until I laid my hands on Himalaya’s herbal range of lip balms. I find it convenient and easy to trust a brand like Himalaya that has not only been in business for more than seven decades but also guarantees the goodness of Ayurveda owing to their commitment to herbal tradition. They made strides in products of personal care and wellness in 1999 and have ever since offered us the fruits of their constant. This time Himalaya has come up with a luxurious and glamorous range of lip balms which is sure to appeal to the youth. The Natural Soft Vanilla Lip Care is a luxurious lip balm which helps us combat dryness and further softens the lips. It has an anti-inflammatory characteristic which heals chapped and damaged lips. There is Rich Cocoa Butter Lip Care that will not only give extra protection but also make the lips naturally glossy. It shields the sensitive skin from environmental damage by repairing, healing and moisturising the lips. What you get in the end are soft and supple lips! On the other hand, the peach …

Bohemian Rhapsody in Mumbai – OOTD

March 15, 2016
Forever21 Kalapalette6

If you happen to be in Mumbai during the ‘winter season’ (and you belong to a colder region like Delhi) then all you need to do on your visit is soak up the warmth of the sun, put on some anti-tan lotion and feel boho! That’s exactly what I did in the month of January, when I was flown down to Mumbai to attend the launch of OPPO F1 smartphone. Post the media event, I took a mini break to experience the hospitality of The Resort and to bask in the glory of a beautiful beach. The Resort is situated in front of the Aksa Beach, which is quaint and much cleaner as opposed to the super-crowded beach life of Southern Mumbai (note : Juhu Beach & Bandstand). Now beachwear in India is a little different from the western world. We don’t get to flaunt a bikini (Mumbai is not eligible for even a sarong) and so the beachwear comes down to the breezy silhouettes in light fabrics. Forever21 in India is filled with a section that only speaks about bohemian flavours. Right from the earthy colour palette, fringe décors to the tribal embroidery and prints; one can find a variety of summer-friendly designs at F21. This Georgette midi dress in crisp white with minimal thread work is apt to keep the sweat away and makes one feel at leisure. So to keep up with my Bohemian spirit, I thought of doing an OOTD post and pose for the camera right on the Aksa Beach. Usually I either wrap up my hair in a bun, but for this added boho flavour, I decided to braid down my tresses in fine gypsy style. Now the look works apt in case you have long tresses, a beach to hit and don’t want the …

Amazon India Must Have Ft. Festive Look

October 10, 2015
Amazon India Da Milano_Kalapalette1a

Ever since Amazon India has come into existence, online shopping experience has become a serious trend in the country. Country like India, where buying in bulk or buying in sale has always been a popular concept, is now well equipped with the modern amenities of a leisure lifestyle. Gone are the days when we used to step out in scorching sunlight, planning out days/months in advance, what we will wear for the festive celebrations. Now that the festivals are lined up closely in order (Starting this month), I had to give into the festive mood and feature something that every desi girl is currently doing – setting a look rack for the festivities. When Amazon India Fashion team decided to send across some love from their #MustHaveFashion category, I was instantly able to relate the colours and texture of the product to this celebratory season. Amazon India sent across a lovely structured Da Milano bag, which has been sophisticatedly textured on a pop of red tone to set the mood. The Ensemble Giving into the breezy autumn season, I picked up the kurti from a set of two that I purchased a couple of months back from Myntra. Breaking the monotony of the yellow printed kurti, I added a darker tone of palazzo pants that I thrifted from the locals of Delhi. The Print Festive season in India means embroidery and prints. Mostly, derived from the middle eastern influence, Paisley design is very famous in traditional Indian forms. One can opt for such detailed prints or keep it simple with gota patti or add dollops of embroidery to please the bling-struck festive feel. The Hand Bag Star of this outfit post is this Da Milano structured hand-bag. Like I had mentioned earlier too, I absolutely love the rich red colour of …

Radisson Blu – Paschim Vihar, Delhi (Review)

September 2, 2015

It’s a rare sight finding a hotel in a concrete jungle, that sets living experience apart from the otherwise suffocating ambience that many offer. A hotel that offers the bird’s view of West-Delhi, Radisson Blu Paschim Vihar is definitely worth visiting and experiencing. Right from their warm hospitality, breathtaking views to 24/7 working restaurants, dinner-special food abode and recreational centres; this hotel excels in all! Located in the heart of West Delhi, Radisson Blu Hotel New Delhi Paschim Vihar is an up scale hotel by Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. Radisson Blu Paschim Vihar is not only family friendly, but its massive space and separate business-class and lounge floor offers business conferences and events as well! The décor of the hotel is contemporary with metallic yet soothing elements to keep up with the rich interiors. Accommodation The hotel offers 178 Guest rooms and Suites, with 122 Superior rooms, 35 Business class rooms, 01 Presidential suite, 02 Deluxe suites, 15 Executive suites and 03 Junior suites. We stayed in one of their ‘Business Class Rooms’ that is located on their exclusive business floor of the hotel. The room is spread across 36 square meters, with a spacious bathroom, high-speed internet access, virtual office setup and a boardroom right across. DINING EXPERIENCE Before I get into the details of the restaurants, I would like to say that this place offers the best in bakes and most of the dishes that they serve. The flavours are intense and likeable, the presentation is spot-on and the ambience definitely sets the mood right! Level 2 Keeping up with the amount of travel and business class customers that they receive on an average, Radisson Blu Paschim Vihar offers a 24/7 open dining restaurant, Level 2, that offers world cuisines and quite engaging kitchens. Shocking Looks of MTV VMA 2015 Awards

Shocking Looks of MTV VMA 2015 Awards

MTV VMA 2015, a.k.a. Video Music Awards is suppose to be an evening of congratulations and appreciating the best in the music industry with an award. While the anticipation was indeed built on ‘Who won the award?’, it was the red-carpet drama that stole the limelight. Being sophisticated and important definitely took a back seat for this trail of A-listers, who refused to adhere by the red-carpet norms and managed to blow our minds off; with their bizarre choices. Let’s take a look at the most shocking TOP 7 looks. #7 FKA Twigs in Atelier Versace Okay. We LOVE (Abso heart) her swag and her Rastafarian style is always on our radar. But, this delicate vision of sheer drapes meet caged corset is totally dull and boring. Take some lessons from Miley Cyrus (Watch for #2) if you really wanna take up ‘being bizarre’ up your sleeves Twiggy! #6 Ciara in Alexandre Vauthier Did she accidentally drop her ensemble into the cloth shredder? And then bravely decided to wear it otherwise? *Oops* Ciara surely took the fringe trend test a little too seriously here. #5 Rita Ora in Vera Wang First, a moment of silence for those birds who gave off their feathers for this ku-koo dress. Rita Ora totally killed it (literally) in this Vera Wang number. Neither did she manage to flatter the fashion police with her ensemble choice, nor did she manage to steal an extra paparazzi click or two for her skin-show either! #4 Amber Rose and Blac Chyna in Custom Dresses   Not sure what these two ladies are trying to convey. With words like ‘Gold Digger’, ‘Bitch’, ‘Whore’ and ‘Slut’ flashing all over (note : in pop neon shades), this attempt looks more like circus-shaming with a motive of wearing it again on the night of Halloween. Amber, you …

Himalaya Herbals Hair Care Range Review

July 30, 2015
Himalaya Herbals Hair Care Range_1

The beauty of women might lie in her eyes, but it is her beautiful tresses that woo a man away. So much so, that our very own Bollywood has been writing song odes to the magic of wide flowing hair. But the picture looks more like a drama than a real life segment because nobody’s got smooth silky hair, say what?! Truth be told, it is a task in today’s time to take care of a healthy hair care regime. Forget the styling part, but the basic requirement of keeping the hair in the best condition possible is no less than going to war. From dryness, flakiness, dehydration, hair fall, dandruff, oily scalp, split ends to the rigorous prayers of growing hair longer than the deadline is no less than a nightmare. Top it all with the evil eyes of commercial hair (not so) care brands that promise fighting for you, while in reality they are the chemical gods in disguise hiding the multiple after effects of curing one problem. Imagine applying a serum/shampoo to ward off dandruff, which actually ends up drying your scalp off to the extent that the pores become dehydrated, resulting in dull and weak hair strands. In our desi world of Ayurveda and centuries old ritual of applying organic formulas to cure almost any bodily problem, there are certain brands that are still following the norms. Scientifically proven, most of the organic bases are harmless to our body and their results are long lasting as opposed to the chemical treatments that come with an expiry date. Himalaya Herbals is one such Indian brand that is not only convincingly priced, but their ever evoluting products too are quite promising. Been following their products since a long time now, I have seen their products and ranges developing …

Awadh Food Festival – Indyaki Food Review

July 28, 2015
`

Food is the identity of each region that landmarks this globe. Be it a small mud-abode accumulation of villagers or a full blown metro city; their are certain flavours of that particular land that differentiates from the other imported delicacies that are prepared. Derived from the local produce of particular regions, these delicacies are a kind of trophy that the residents proudly boost about. India too is defined by such cuisines, that are locals of a particular region. Be it the ingredients used, the preparation technique or even the moisture in the air; achieving the exact flavours is a delicate affair, when prepared in a foreign land. In this modern world where import-export has become a daily wager, it is no biggie to find cuisines of far of lands being prepared and served with utmost excellence, almost anywhere and everywhere. But like I said earlier, it is very hard to brush up the exact flavours that are authentic of that particular dish or cuisine. And given the immense amount of spices that we are now able to purchase effortlessly, the actual taste of a dish can be altered with and prepared in the easiest way we like. One such celebrated cuisines of India comes from the land of the Nawabs – Awadh (Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh). Not to be mistaken as a ‘Mughal cuisine’, Awadhi food is largely influenced by the Kashmir, Punjab, Hyderabad and Central Asian cooking techniques. Quoted as the food for the royals, Awadhi food is rich in spices and specializes in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. From Kebabs, Biryanis, Sheermal or the Indian breads like Roomali rotis and Warqi Parathas; Awadhi food is a paradise for non-vegetarian (lamb & chicken meat) lovers. Also, Awadhi Bawarchis (chef) and Rakabdars (Gourmet Cooks) were the ones who introduced ‘dum style of cooking’ …
