Who said that ‘Great conversations start over great coffee’?? Hell no! Great conversations can start over anywhere, even when it’s 5a.m. outside the city airport. Well, atleast I wasn’t keeping any hopes on that. To give you a broader perspective, here is the summary…. While Delhi was buzzing over the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, amidst the crazy schedules, I got an invitation, which usually might piss anyone off. Reason? Well, the invite was for a workshop to be held in Mumbai, while I reside in Delhi. Like always, I had to politely decline the invite, stating my current location. To which, they replied, with an equally polite smile, that this trip will be fully sponsored. YAY! (Dil mai ladoo phoota? Yesss!) As the days closed by, I learnt that few more bloggers will be flown down from Delhii, among which I got in touch with Ritu from The Indian Beauty , who introduced me to Deeptima from Beauty Unleash with Deeptima . I started my trip with anxiety and a hope that I will *meet* new people, only if I knew that much more is what I will get out of this mini trip. Let me take you through a ‘Picture Diary’, like I always do, to share the fun, friendship and love I felt in these two days. DEL – BOM The early morning flight plan. Those who don’t know the current India scenario, well the festive and wedding season is in full norm. Every corner of India is glittering with enthusiasm, happiness and lot’s of colorful love. Celebrating this season, many apparel and accessory brands across the country are pushing their ‘Festive Range’. One such colorful brand is BIBA. Located across various cities of India, this store has much more than the ‘ethnic wear’ to offer. Two days back I was invited to review the Festive Season 2013 collection from BIBA. A wide variety of ethnic wear, ranging from simple mix and match, to a goth inspired ‘Rockstar’ collection. The icing on the top, is the designer yet affordable collection from Rohit Bal for BIBA. Choosing my favorite looks was the most difficult task, as the collection had so much to offer. Still, I managed to score three looks which will suit every ‘Desi Girl’! LOOK 1 : Simple and Chic This look is meant for those, who like it simple yet elegant. The idea is to infuse in the traditional hues of blue and red, with a simple silhouette, and nothing fancy. The only shine of the look is the golden block print and the Banarasi style border. Tip : Team such a look with statement earrings, like I have adorned here. They not only keep the overall look festive and sober, but brings the right amount of drama required to justify the occassion. LOOK 2 : Shimmer Queen This look, from Rohit Bal for BIBA collection, is meant for those who love to live up the festive glitter. The right amount of shimmer print, infused in a sun-kissed orange semi-anarkali suit guarantees the spotlight on you. The bright contrast of this combination will make sure that you stand out in the crowd. Tip : Go …

Continue readingAnything Bollywood is a big hit. Period! This is exactly what keeps getting proven from time to time, and this time it was Nida Mahmood’s collection which kept us on the edges of our seats. The hologram effect on accessorization and prints, and those charmingly famous filmy dialogues in the background score was like a Bollywood movie in itself! Whereas Nachiket Bharve’s collection was all about a gloomy dream, which consisted of a lake side picturesque, complete with butterflies, dragonflies and clover leaves. NACHIKET BHARVE | FOSSIL Press note : The contrast between the fragile yet heavy and dense fossils and rocks, and their interpretation in the airy light fabrics is the challenging and exciting part of creating this collection. The key details of tassels, sheerness, sleeve inserts and a strong focus on skirts, outline this collection. The shoes are custom made in the fabrics from the line. The collection has separates that can be mixed and matched to create individualistic looks. NIDA MAHMOOD | BOMBAY BIOSCOPE Press note : Cosmos of Constellations Where Stars join the dots of Destiny and Dreams. In a Parallel Universe of Parallel Reality. Continue readingAs much as I swear by the bling surrounding Kanika Saluja’s collection called ‘Annaikka’ , the color palette she used was truly spellbounding as well. Continue readingAs Delhi witnesses yet another week of glamour, fashion and paparazzi, I bring to you the ‘Picture Diary’. Showcasing some of the breathtaking collections that have been presented in this edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Stay tuned, as after this picture diary I will be coming up with more from WIFW SS’14 platter. 😉 Grand Opening by Anupama and Masaba ANUPAMAA DAYAL Press note : The raison d’etre of Anupamaa is the revival of the ancient, almost forgotten hand printing and needle craft techniques of India. Anupamaa’s style is vintage meets bold and western. The print stories are often eclectic and the philosophy is organic. One of her favorite techniques of Anupamaa is the ancient hand printing technique using wooden blocks. MASABA GUPTA Press note : Defined shoulders. Glossy collarbones. The rise and the fall of the hem. Barely there skirts. Her calves. And the love affair with the midriff. The marriage of Benarasi Zari and contemporary print. The fiercely pale palette. Washed pink, ice blue and my forever heroes – Black and White. I absolutely LOVED the prints on Masaba’s collection. Stay tuned for more from the ‘Picture Diary’
