5 Unconventional yet Festive Colours to substitute for Red on Xmas Looks
I absolutely love dressing up according to the festive season and Christmas is no exception or me. Christmas is such a nostalgic time where the carols and the smell of cinnamon in the air remind me of the amazing childhood celebrations we all used to have during the festive season. However, as we grew older, we learnt new ways to celebrate the festival and that includes dressing up for the occasion. Though red might be synonymous with the festival of Christmas, I thought why not go a different way and use a few other colours to bring out the festivity in the season? 1. Marsala: Image source: squarespace Did you know that in the year 2014, Marsala was pronounced Pantone’s colour of the year? Well, justifiably so! This beautifully earthy tone which has a certain robustness to it, is definitely one of my favourites without a doubt. Despite the fact that marsala was pronounced the Colour of the Year 4 years back, to this day it holds its ground as a tough competitor when compared to other worthy opponents, a few of which I will be listing here for sure! 2. Amber: Image source: stylecraze It is so fascinating to learn new things each and every day! Did you know that the colour Amber happens to fall exactly between yellow and orange in the colour wheel, because I sure did not! But one thing I know for sure, that I am absolutely in love with the brightness and the earthiness of this colour too. The great thing about colours such as these, is that they suit every skin tone beautifully. From an overcoat to a pair of trousers or a billowy dress, use this colour without hesitation and you will be rewarded with many admiring looks for sure. 3. Rose …
Continue readingIt has been going in for quite a long time now that animals have been used an abused in the fashion industry, whether it is to make leather or fur based outfits. However, the good news is that a lot of fashion forwards and forward-thinking fashion labels have decided to call it quits with animal cruelty and do their bit in helping the voiceless beings. With the news of a high-end fashion label announcing that they are going fur-free or leather-free, almost every other month, it has now become quite fashionable to go cruelty-free. Stella McCartney: Image source: heritadolcevita Stella McCartney might perhaps be the most animal-friendly high-end fashion brand that you could ever come across. Stella McCartney herself has been an animal advocate and a huge PETA supporter for a long time, so it goes without saying that her label would also reflect her ideas in the most effective manner. She has vowed to steer clear of using both fur and leather and has made sure that she only uses responsible and animal-friendly materials. Apart from all this, she has also been the voice of reason all through and promotes the idea of a animal-friendly fashion industry to her fellow designers and shoppers alike. Vivienne Westwood: Image source: vogue For Vivienne Westwood, being a long-term vegetarian that she was, using fur in her designs did not seem to be doing her vision justice. So, after being made aware by PETA, about the cruelty that the animals are subjected to in the fur industry, Westwood decided to renounce the use of fur in her designs too. Now like many of the other designers, she has switched to using faux fur in her designs. Tommy Hilfiger: Image source: goodsearch Tommy Hilfiger might perhaps be one of the most popular international …
Continue readingWinter has finally arrived, and with it, so has the need to bring out clothes from deep inside our wardrobes! From woollens and caps to scarves and those trench coats, all have become a necessity now! But among all these, there is one material in particular that rules most of our hearts; faux fur! Fashionable, comfortable and utterly wonderful to look at, faux fur is everyone’s answer to chic and effortlessly styled clothing. The best part, however, is that it is cruelty-free and that no animal had to get hurt for us to enjoy the texture of the fur! However, the one thing that it all comes down to is how we take care of these faux fur when not in use and when they are in use too. Storage: Image source: withoutatrace Be it a coat made solely of faux fur or another clothing element with a touch of faux fur to it, storing it the right way is of utmost importance. Just a few points to remember: Remember to store your faux furs away from humidity and in a dry and cool place. Though faux fur getting wet can get quite messy, the humidity can make it fuzzy and frizzy which in turn makes it look weird. The best way you can store them is by keeping them inside a garment bag or some kind of a container. Never store your faux fur near a place which has access to a constant source of sunlight. Any kind of overexposure to the sunlight on a regular basis can fade the colour off of clothes and faux fur alike. Maintenance: Image source: wordpress Maintenance is not really that big an issue when it comes to faux furs as long as you have been following the storage rules to the T. There are, however, a few things …
