Every time the thought of getting a makeover done from a salon or studio pops up in my head, all I can think of is how the artist will ruin my natural instinct and make me look like Cruella-de-vil. It takes a great deal and luck to find professionals who know the requirement of your skin, your appearance and your personal style. Picking up a makeup brush and simply buffing through an array of NYX or Sephora hauls is an easy-peasy, but it takes a great deal towards brushing off the right colour tone and touches that will make you look like a million bucks!

Tantrums Makeup Studio is a venture by Ratika Vaish and Mayank who deliver their passion for beauty across many platforms and among a rich clientele overseas. Based out of East Patel Nagar, their venture is growing immensely and they are now opening up branches across Delhi to expand their wings. For the recently concluded season of Amazon India Fashion Week, I collaborated with this lovely team who drove down all the way from Patel Nagar to my residence to transform me into a ‘Desi Diva’ for Day 3 of AIFWSS17.

When it comes to makeup, Ratika treats the requirements of her clients with great zeal. She patiently listened to my perspective and vision of the makeup I’d like to go for. Ratika interacted with me, providing her inputs on the latest makeup trends and helped me decode the makeup that will compliment my Saree-Jacket amalgamation for the fashion week. My initial instinct was to go for smoky eyes, but she suggested that I go for more subtle and shimmerier eye makeup to compliment my Kantha embroidered saree.

Her ideology comes from her experience working with A-list clients nationally and internationally. Although her setup is in the core Western Delhi zone, she keeps travelling overseas to transform brides into true beauties. Her most sort after clientele consists of Kamla Pasand Group Family (Abu Dhabi), Dilbagh Pan Masala Group & Family, Vimal Pan-Masala Group & Family, Mr. Walia’s Family (Owner of Azaad News) and many other prestigious families of India.

Ratika is also very particular about the type of products she uses for the makeup. She specializes in brands like Urban Decay, Estee Lauder, Nars, Make-Up Forever, MAC, HUDA beauty and many Indian brands depending on the requirement.

Her experience of 15 years in the industry has been much celebrated in the news, as she has written columns for the likes of Femina on Make Up, Beauty and Skincare as well.

Recently, she was also invited over by the Ace Designer Anju Modi to walk the ramp for a cause. Ravishing in an Anju Modi creation, Ratika stood out as a true Indian beauty who knows the aesthetics of cultural beauty perfectly.

Speaking about hair, well, I just cannot deal with my long tresses at times and that often leaves me questioning my style and how I can make it a more interesting affair. Mayank has a knack fortransforming hair of any length into a piece of art. I won’t lie, but the hair got me a lot of compliments that day, with people questioning whether it is my real hair or am I wearing a pre-designed wig to compliment my look! Lol.

Mayank examines the hair through and through, asking the requirement of his client and suggesting what hairdo can be achieved on various hair lengths of his clients. And it’s not just the design of the hairdo, but even the long lasting effects of the style that impressed me immensely. My hairdo lasted all day long; with no need of bob-pinning any loose ends at all. Speaking about the shell life of hairstyle, Ratika’s make up too was spot-on enough and stayed put throughout the day as I hustled through the back-to-back fashion shows and meets that day.

Tantrums Makeup Studio also excels in hair coloring and styling for general customers apart from their ritual skincare and makeup services.
