There was a time when Delhi had a few selective spa salons. But over the years this western version of a massage has found it’s way into our metro cities as a full flourished business. Every defined region of Delhi has at least one spa standing, which is kinda convenient for the daily churners who like to avoid travelling; but how many of them actually stand by the hygiene and excellency terms that a spa requires?

I have had good experience at spas and have had never-going-back kinda nightmares at some spa setups too. Although, their are a few spa abodes in the city that are not only at par with the standards of a successful spa, but are also a niche above the rest in the luxury department. One such spa of excellence and luxury is the Quan Spa at JW Marriott, Aerocity – New Delhi.

I was recently invited to experience their hospitality and also try out their ‘Monsoon Special’ Spa rituals. I warded off the #MondayBlues by opting to get a spa therapy at this exquisite spa. On arrival at the grand JW Marriott Aerocity, I met Mr. Nikhil from their marketing department, who guided me on to the 2nd floor which is reserved for Quan Spa.

The moment the elevator gates opened, I got a whiff of soothing lemon grass and a vague melody of relaxing music with dimmed out lights and a very unwinding environment. Boy! I was in spa heaven. Pools of rose petals welcomed me to the reception area where I was seated for my appointment.

The receptionist discussed which monsoon spa ritual will work best for me and asked me to fill out their acquaintance form which helps the masseuse understand pressure points and problem areas to be focused on.

Since I had been travelling much and had stiff muscles on the back and an overdone mental exhaustion, I opted for their 30 mins Bespoke Skin Polish and 60 mins Hot Stone Massage. I have tried plenty of Aromatherapy rituals, but Hot Stone Massage was something that really intrigued me to try on.

I was then guided to a relaxing lounge area, where I could stretch my legs, gobble up some exotic grapes, read their signature magazine and sip some herbal green tea; while my masseuse prepared the spa room for my therapy.

Post that, I was taken to my spa room which was dimly lit, with soothing Thai music in the background. I instantly fell in love! The masseuse asked me to change into their spa robes.

Their neatly packed set of Spa essentials was very welcoming.

To commence with the procedure, she washed my feet in a brass utensil full of salt water and rose petals. This was followed by 30 minutes of Bespoke Skin Polish with Aromatherapy products.

The polish was very relaxing and left my skin moisturised. I was then guided to their attached bath to cleanse of excess polish from my body.

This procedure was followed by 60 minutes of Hot Stone Massage which was absolutely DIVINE! I initially thought that it might be dangerous, since the technique meant placing warmed up stones on your bare skin, so I was kind of terrified that it might burn out my skin if not done properly. But not only the masseuse was an expert with the technique, she made sure that the stones were just warm to provide relaxation and not panic *giggles*.

By the end of this an hour long procedure, I had successfully attained nirvana. The masseuse then suggested that I keep the Aromatherapy oil on for at least 2 hours to let it work up its magic. But to decrease slipperiness, she wiped off the excess oil off with the help of a warm towel and rubbed body butter to seal the deal.

Thanking the masseuse for such an amazing experience, I walked up to the reception where the marketing experts Mr. Anand Kumar (Spa Manager) and Mr. Nikhil (Marketing Department) were waiting to give me a tour of Quan Spa and share more details about the services available.

My Verdict

Those who like getting pampered amidst luxurious hospitality and an absolutely relaxing environment, this is the place for you. Also, if you are travelling by, from or have some hours before boarding your connecting flight, visit Quan Spa which is at a close stretch from IGI Airport and unwind with their array of spa services. They also have a day-basis pool and gym section, just in case working out is on your mind.
