Autumn Winter 2012 (AW’12) This year is all about bright colours, shimmer, embellishments, faux fur and lots of laces and crochet. A couple of days back I was invited for the launch part of Allen Solly’s latest Delhi store in Select Citywalk, Saket. Instead of Mannequins, they had LIVE DJ playing “Spot Request Dedicate” songs of the customers! Well defined fall collection attracted many customers in the launch itself. Customers were welcomed with yummy snacks… …followed by wine Classic Fall/Winter collection for both men and women. From formals for men.. …to casual denims… Stylish V neck pullovers One of their creative initiatives called “FRIDAY DRESSING COLLECTION” Geometric patterns such as Checks in various patterns and colors are a must in a man’s wardrobe! Tip for Men : This Fall/Winter invest in colorful loafers and jazz up your dull wardrobe! These Allen Solly loafers will not only keep your feet warm, but also bring a level of style to what you wear. (If I have my way I’l buy them in every color that is available) My personal favorite abstract print from women’s collection. They do have some classic pieces in women’s collection to choose from as well. Overall I had great time checking out the store, the collection and of course the Juke Box. In the order of their appearance on Day 5, Part 2, let us look at the best picks from Day 5!! Klitche Fall 2012 Collection “Paper Planes” Designer duo, Isha Kedia and Deepak Goswami’s label ‘Klitche’ presented ‘Paper Planes’ their debut collection which focused on the beauty and clear form of folded, shaped paper. The colour palette of the range comprised shades of red, blue, black and beige; which were kept minimal for strong silhouettes to take center stage. Using traditional winter fabrics such as felt, there were softer cottons, and silks along with suiting materials, which gave the collection its fresh, strong and feminine appeal. The range showcased dresses, tunics, coats and jackets which flaunted carefully constructed forms and also sported fabric textured designs in abstract geometric shapes. Using no embellishments, the collection also had statement pieces which displayed 3D accentuations with interesting cut outs, large structured flares as well as 3D protruding patterns. A piece that outshone the others was a plain colored jacket which sported a unique cut out fabric sleeves. To keep the look of this collection fresh, Lakmé salon experts worked with Mickey Mouse ear shaped hair buns, sleek eyeliner and bright lips. There was a delicate beauty reflected in the collection as traditional and contemporary motifs danced all over the gorgeous outfits on a colourful background. The luxurious fabrics glittered under the ramp lights as the beautiful creations for the festive season made an impact. Opening the show with a chiffon kurta and faresha pitta embroidered bodice, Amrita showed more creations in net, chiffon and organza in shades of green, rust, mustard, yellow, peach, red, orange, Sindoor and mehendi green. The delicate net saris had cut Dana and zari work, while the kalidar kurtas were worn over net slips. The final creation was a riot of colours as a mehendi organza jacket was teamed with a bright pink kurta and a striking dupatta. Karishma Shahani Khan Fall 2012 Collection “Chauraha” Karishma Shahani Khan’s label, ‘Chauraha’ displayed a new collection titled ‘Silk Route’ which was a pop coloured fantasy any youthful diva would dream of. The concept of this range was based around merchants, their caravans, gypsy lives as well as their rich, hidden culture. The range comprised dresses, jackets, skirts, tunics and blazers infusing the Indian cultural theme of celebration with western silhouettes. Although serious in structure with their solid geometric forms, the pieces graced the runway in bold, bright shades such as vibrant tangerine, bumble bee yellow, sky blue, and peacock green with certain sections being in darker tones such as midnight blue and black. Designer Karishma Shahani Khan made use of natural fabrics such as khadi, jute, silk and cotton; fusing luxury with simplicity in a unique and adorable way. Sequins and embroidery along with quilting and beadwork helped add a glam touch to the pieces. Outhouse by Kaabia and Sasha Grewal Fall 2012 Collection “Leone d’oro” The look was impressive, edgy and very strong for the dramatic jewellery called “Leone d’oro” presented by Kaabia and Sasha Grewal at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012. Inspired by the Golden Lion, the collection had a marked African touch as the king of the jungle’s face appeared on imposing pendants. Chic and elegant, the inspirations further moved for the dazzling ornaments from Art Deco architecture to lion sculptures, leopard prints and geometrics. It was Luxe styling at its ultimate best, as the designing duo played with body ornaments with different types of leather. Spiked necklace with large rear pendants and cascading chains, lapel necklace and cuffs, tasselled pendants and necklace with the Peter Pan collar shape had coloured stones. Fringes on flat collars took to centre stage to give that very rustic touch. Meera and Rohit Aggarwal Fall 2012 Collection “Rivaayat” Inspired by Shah Jahan’s wife Mumtaz Mahal, this collection by Meera and Rohit Aggarwal for their label Rivaayat aimed to be a mirror image of the blue blooded lady who was known throughout the land for her exquisite beauty. The creations focused more on Indian traditional wear, adding a modern touch to turn up the ‘oomph’ factor with low cut backs and tie ups, which graced saris and cholis. Exaggerated feminine forms made for free flowing silhouettes and skirts, which seemed to flirt with one’s ankles. With a colour palette comprising royal reds, black, gold and other festive colours, the garments shone through in intriguing fabrics such as silks and nets amidst other woven materials. To add a refreshing jolt to the collection, Meera and Rohit also injected shots of bold colours such as grey and mustard which were embellished royally with sequins, bead work and rich embroidery.
