Royal Enfield : Riders on the Storm (OOTD)

June 9, 2015

We girls are often pictured in pretty pink toned feminine silhouettes. So much so that the very idea of being edgy mostly falls appalled by the society. But in this world of being at the forefront, baring yourself to the rough wind and walking driving down the raw paths is what keeps us all going. Royal Enfield recently launched first of its kind gear & wear store at Khan Market, Delhi. Just like any other blogger launch event, I went to check out the collection. Wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the collection so much, that a mere conversation with their team member Radhika and an exceptional idea of doing a feature will prosper into this immensely victorious OOTD feature. Take a look! Psst.. the braids just happened to be by accident. I had roughly braided up to get frizzy hair at the time of the shoot, but everyone insisted that I keep the braids on as it brought out the more raw look to my attire. Well, rest is history.   Photographs Courtesy : Faizan Patel Photography Outfit Details T-Shirt, Jacket, Jeans, Gloves, Bag& Helmet – Royal Enfield Heels – Next UK Ring – Thrifted from Manali   The Despatch Rider inspired collection exemplifies Royal Enfield hallmarks: craftsmanship, durability & detail. Leather jackets are the defining pieces of this collection, complimented by other outer wear pieces. Cold weather layering gets a leg up with sweaters, sweatshirts and henleys. The additional outer wear items include over-shirts, t-shirts, denim trousers, water resistant canvas bags, belts, wallets and shoes in pure leather. Why so serious? Work Style with Benetton

December 20, 2014

We all literally dread our way up every morning to get ready and go to work. I mean, who doesn’t like staying in the pajamas all day long and curl up beneath the soft warm quilts? But for those who even prefer keeping their pajamas stylish (and in trend), they don’t compromise on the work-look even a percent.  Now that the winters are here, layering becomes a must-do for any occasion. Layering up for work? No, I don’t mean the usual over-sized knitwear comforted under an equally over-sized long coat and a muffler wrapped around the lengths of your neck. Yikes! Presenting to you a neat and classy look to stay stylish and stay warm this Autumn-Winter season. Jacket, Blouse, Jeans, Belt & Boots – United Colors of Benetton Currently I am obsessing over this mesh black jacket and have worn it from a meeting to the cocktail evening as well. Wore the same #OOTD for the finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week by Rohit Bal. December 1, 2014

As the Delhi winters settle in and 1st December marks the beginning of the holiday season, it’s time to bring out your stylish (warm) best. This means that the weekends at the malls and apparel stores are getting busier and merrier.  With brands trying to present their Holiday-AW’14 best, some have taken up the experience one step ahead and are offering their customers a more interactive experience. Marks & Spencer known for its range of party wear and casual day wear across different age categories, collaborated with me recently for one such day of fun and styling. I was invited to be their stylist for a day, and boy what a day it was! 7 hours gone by, didn’t even realize the time ticking and the enthusiasm M&S loyals showed up made me want for some extra interaction time. Location Marks & Spencer Store Ambience Mall Ambience Island,National Highway 8,  Gurgaon, Haryana 122001 What was my motive? To engage with Marks & Spencer customers and provide them a more fashionable shopping experience. From providing styling tips, introducing the customer to the Autumn-Winter trends of the season to helping them put-up a holiday/winter look for the season; the experience was full of zeal. What was the activity module? Interact with the customers. Give them style tips. Suggest them the right garments as per their body-type and requirements. Invite them to pose for the shutterbugs and win a goodie bag from M&S. Commonly asked questions? 1. Will a particular apparel look good on me? 2. What should I wear for the New Year’s this year? 3. Print on Print Trend | United Colors of Benetton AW’14

December 1, 2014

Trends are like the major highlights of this fashion industry. With each season comes the trends. Some of them stay for a long time, while some dissolve within weeks. However, their are certain trends that tend to repeat; season after season. Take for instance, the Print on Print Trend. Source : Benetton.com Now a lot of fashion experts across the globe try to set some rules for this particular trend. But my personal opinion says that if it looks good overall, their ain’t no particular rule that needs to be followed. After all, it’s not mathematical mind-boggling question. Source : Benetton.com United Colors of Benetton has come up an array of prints for this Autumn Winter Season. For those who have been associated with United Colors of Benetton for long know, that their signature style is more on the basic lines with the emphasis on solid shades. Well, you’ll be surprised to learn about the prints – series that have launched this time. From the obvious floral prints to military prints, they have also taken over digital photograph prints and font-style prints for their Autumn Winter collection. Now before I show you how United Colors of Benetton AW’14 became my inspiration to try this print on, check out the basic rules tips on how to decode this fun fashion trend. TIPS TO DECODE PRINT-ON-PRINT TREND 1. Match the colors – Something that I have incorporated in my #LOTD too. While matching the prints can come out a bit too loud for most occasions, matching the color palette will tone down the double prints ; bringing the two style into one perfect match. 2. Break up the monotony with solids – Something that is a must for this trend. In order to bring in more definition, throw in a matching solid …

Chikankari Sarees – An ode to Lucknow’s tradition

November 27, 2014

No matter how westernized way of fashion we Desi people are adapting, their is still something about the traditional ‘Vastra – Andaaz’ (apparel style) that keeps us rooted to our land of origin. In this fast moving life where lazer prints and chemically framed embellishment techniques are much preferred, the art of handwork is diminishing. This post is dedicated to one such brilliant fashion statement, that was impregnated in the weaves of cotton fabric centuries back; by our royal ancestors.  Source : Pinterest Chikankari – Chikan Embroidery Chikan is a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, India. Literally translated, the word means embroidery. Believed to have been introduced by Nur Jehan, Mughal emperor Jahangir’s wife,[1] it is one of Lucknow’s best known textile decoration styles. (Wikipedia) Technique The technique of creation of a chikan work is known as chikankari.  Chikankari is a delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabric like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net etc. White thread is embroidered on cool, pastel shades of light muslin and cotton garments. Nowadays chikan embroidery is also done with coloured and silk threads in different colours to meet the recent fashion trends and keep chikankari up-to-date. Lucknow is the heart of the Chikankari industry today and the variety is known as Lucknawi chikan. (Wikipedia) Check out this video by NDTV to know more about the embroidery art! The most profound display of this art form can be found in Lucknow Sarees. Lucknawi Sarees What I personally like about Lucknawi Chikan sarees is the intricate detailing giving a delicate appearance to the wearer.  The finesse by which they are crafted boosts of royal weaves and bring out a more sophisticated look when draped right. How To Maintain Lucknawi Sarees? 1. Avoid wearing necklace or any sharm jewels that might …

Rohit Bal : Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week – Spring Summer ’15

October 26, 2014

The grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week was no less than a Mughal – carnival in itself. Before I take you through my photo – gallery, wanted to share a big woot with you.  One of my photographs that I took of Arjun Rampal (Rohit Bal’s show stopper for the finale) got retweeted by none other than the actor himself and has received more than 35,000+ hits till now.  About the Collection The Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale by Rohit Bal concluded the Spring Summer 2015 edition of India’s premiere fashion & trade event – Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. It was a magical evening as        Quli Khan’s Tomb with Qutub Minar as its backdrop came alive with this magnificent show. Rohit Bal’s ‘GULBAGH’, inspired by the rich and lush Mughal Gardens of Kashmir, is a tribute to the God-gifted and unparalleled beauty of the valley. Mesmerizing the audience, through a visual and musical spectacle, the event recreated the erstwhile court of the Mughals through flowers and live music. With guests entering to live sufi music, the show began with the resounding voice of the internationally acclaimed doyen of Indian classical music – Shubha Mudgal. While she sang, the models walked the ramp, adorned with flowers.   Arjun Rampal Christian Louboutin Follow Me Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Youtube | Pinterest

Nikasha speaks about being dedicate and pretty with this collection, inspired by the landscape of traditional and rare color combination, with interplay of precious embroidery and archived romantic prints including the jasmine bud, cherry blossoms and Siuli. This is a well curated selection of all the elements a soon to be married girl would desire to keep in her coterie, which ranges from lighter to heavier embroidered silhouettes. The collection has an inherent joie de vivre in a vibrant and festive mood for the bride and her trousseau. The collection will be on display for the next one week at Ensemble, DLF Emporio Delhi.  Personal opinion : The colors are fresh and girly, making it the right color palette for a young bride. The embroidery is perfectly apt for the occasion and is light on the wearer. The silhouettes and fit (can be customized too) will perfectly compliment your body type. A Zotiqq Jewellery Experience

August 23, 2014

Jewellery can either make or break your style. Accessorize it right and even a pair of basic denims and plain tank will upgrade to a runway-style #OOTD. I am a jewelry junkie. Why I call myself a junkie? Well, because everytime I step out for shopping, no matter what; I always end up adding more jewels to my already flooding jewelry collection. Not to forget all those times when my mom has scolded me for buying some more of the junk I already have. You see, clothes can be worn out, but jewelry stays forever. Don’t remember how many times I have been complimented for wearing a particular jewel rather than a particular apparel! Now that I have made my point, let me introduce you to one such hub of artificial jewels that range between vintage, classic to cocktail styles. Presenting to you Zotiqq.com – the venture by my dear friend and blogger Ritu Rajput of The Indian Beauty Blog. The first time she introduced me to her expansive jewellery collection, I was literally blingstruck! And when she asked me if I would like to feature some of the products on #Kalapalette, it was a straight away yes (tee hee) from me. Combination Rings Set Taking up the midi-rings trend that has been trending since a while now, I had to invest in a few combos from Zotiqq. They are gold, they are classy and they are frigging adjustable. One issue that I have faced earlier with rings is that they can’t be customised for your finger width. But Zotiqq offers that option. Shop it HERE The Disc Man Necklace The next on my list was this vintage coins necklace. I have seen plenty of such coins necklaces with various other labels, but somehow they just don’t fancy me much. But this one stood out from …
