The festival of colours is merely a few days away and I am absolutely ecstatic, not only because Holi happens to be one of my favourite festivals, but it also marks the end of the wintery feels and welcomes to wonders that spring brings with it. I cannot think of a more better festival to complement the chirpiness and the colourful atmosphere during this season, and to add to the festivities, why not be our quirkiest best? Here are a few fusion-wear pieces that you really ought to have in your wardrobe this time around! The Long Skirt: Source: pinimg The long skirt can never go out of trend come what may! Be it a beautifully western skirt with a wonderful silhouette, or a brilliantly embellished skirt with an amazing flare, there is literally no comparison of the grace that a long skirt lends to the wearer. During the festival of Holi however, ditch the silhouetted long western skirt, and opt for the solid coloured skirt with the zari border or even an embellished skirt. The best part about such a skirt is that you can pair it with any kind of ethnic top-wear like a kurti or a long kurta with slits on the side. Super comfy and easy to move around in, skirts are perfect for this beautiful festival. Jacket It Up: Source: ytimg It goes without saying that if we are talking about the festival of colours, one or two of the said colours, in some way or the other, will make their way on your outfit! If you are someone who is conscious about the visibility of these colours, then a jacket is your best, and most stylish bet, without a doubt! The combination of a long kurta with a long ethnic jacket can be a …

John Players has always been associated with being the retail leaders in the Indian menswear market. Keeping up with their promise of introducing latest international trends to the Indian consumers, John Players has recently launched their Spring Summer Collection SS’17 for men, which is an amalgamation of style for all and intense inclusion of various prints and colour palette; catering to all. The collection has been picked up from the international runways, customised for the Indian body type and offers a diverse categorical sub-catalogue venturing into various style-requirements that Indian men require on a daily basis. John Players 2017 collection has been inspired by travel attributes, offering spunky motifs and prints that go well with all men. The colour scheme runs through hues of green, yellow, red and blue among other basic tones like B&W and browns. What I really liked about the collection was that John Players designers believe that prints are meant for all, hence offering a variety of prints on shirts like floral patterns, madras checks and embroidered butta motif; to celebrate style for those men who love experimenting yet looking suave. Me along with my friend Rahul Makkar of FitFoodiesMantra recently visited John Players Lajpat Nagar store to check out the collection in person and style Rahul in three of the mix-matched looks. Rahul, belonging to the hospitality industry, understands the necessity of looking presentable at all times. But he also understands the dilemma of being comfortable yet being confident in whatever men wear. Hence, his take on the collection is that the range offers a great fit, the fabrics used are apt for the Indian weather conditions and the choice of picking from a line of styles and colour palettes is absolutely remarkable. To celebrate the new launch, we styled Rahul in three different looks. …
Continue readingI’m gonna be honest here! I love the denims trend, but their is so much that one can take during this summer heat. And the same goes for our clandestine affair with the blue distressed denims, that takes a break-up mode every time the temperature rises. So what exactly is the alternate of lowers, that is versatile enough to go as a daily wear and can pretty much be stretched out to the after-hours for some chugging wars and food-meets with friends? The answer is – VAMI! What’s Vami? It’s a lifestyle brand started in 2012, by the Bonjour Group. The brand deals in an array of churidar, ankle length leggings, capri and blouses. It has 15 exclusive brand outlets plus the entire product range is also available on e-commerce giants like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, etc. Speaking about the versatility of the products as far as styling them for different occasions is concerned, then the leggings work up as a great lower that can be worn with a formal shirt, a kurti, a chilled out top and a variety of other style experiments. What makes this line of leggings unique is its product quality that stretches out to give a comfortable fit to the wearer, without degrading the finesse of the fabric or making it look too stretched on the body. The double seaming gives a perfect finish to the product, making the wearer feel carefree all day. To bring quirk to their brand VAMI, Bonjour Group recently launched a web series which circles around ‘Yoga Postures’ and the fine quality of VAMI products. Vami encourages every woman who is a multi-tasker and frisking from home to office and back to steal a moment and indulge in asanans. The quirky version of yoga asanas that this web series focuses on are …
Continue readingSummer Street Style essentials consist of cool colour palettes, comfortable silhouettes and Bohemian or Kitschy styles! While I adore the latter, my vibes are always strong towards a Bohemian take on summer trends. Their is something about the Rastafarian trend that makes it worth styling up season after season. And that’s the reason why I have partnered with Vajor.com, yet again, to bring about a ‘Street style OOTD’ that speaks volumes about the Boho style with just the right electric zest of Afghani accessories and comfort of tennis shoes for the woman of free spirit. I did another version of Summer Street Style with Vajor.com recently, when I wore a white embroidered shirt from their latest catalogue at the Amazon India Fashion Week. That was the first time I wore something from Vajor.com and absolutely fell in love with the brand. Not only do they use finest of the fabrics and the trendiest of designs, the fit is so comfortable yet complimenting, that even plus size women can flaunt Vajor designs with elan! Speaking about the dress that I am wearing in this OOTD, it’s White & Grey Embroidered Dress that is apt for a comfortable day out. The fabric used is Printed Rayon Twill with Modal lining. For a finer fit, the dress comes with a back zipper and A-Line fit. What I really liked about the silhouette was the boat neck style that complimented my face and statement earrings well. The fit is great, silhouettes comfortable, structured to fit the needs, subtle embroidery with marble faux stone embellishments for added drama and a colour palette mix of white and grey that suits the otherwise hot weather of Northern India. The dress also comes with a Tie-up Braided waist belt which I didn’t use to celebrate the free-flowing yet structured …
Continue readingNothing can go wrong with a white shirt style. Period. And the versatility of this silhouette of androgynous style is such that you can flatter yourself wearing it in many different ways. Which is exactly what I experimented with at the Amazon India Fashion Week. Vajor.com happily agreed to be my style partners, sending over a box full of their stylish best and I simply grabbed the opportunity to stylise two looks for 2 days of the fashion week with just one embroidered white shirt from Vajor.com! How did I do it? Taking the star of my OOTDs, a Crispy white Rayon Dobby Embroidered Button Down Shirt from Vajor.com I created to looks that can be worn for a casual day out, a weekend brunch and even a cocktail evening rendezvous. LOOK 1 If you are looking for something comfortable yet structured, then balance the silhouettes well. The focus is on tucking the Embroidered White Shirt under a well fitted pair of denims, button up that collar and bedazzle it with a Turquoise Red Statement Necklace; finishing the look with a printed cover up and some more add-on accessories. This look works great if you are going out for the movies or brunch with besties (Sans the statement necklace) or simply going on a weekend lunch date with your beau. Adding colourful elements to match the shirt brings out the summer feel and makes the overall look more vibrant to the eyes. Speaking about the Beige & Mint Green Shrug from Vajor’s EARTHY QUIRK collection, the fit comes absolutely flawless, the earthy colour tones give a more soothing appeal and the Rayon Crepe fabric lets the body breathe even when worn for an entire day. The shrug comes with a tassled waist-ribbon to give more structure to the cover-up, but I …
Continue readingI am always fascinated by the structured make of a double-breasted ebony tuxedo. What really makes and breaks a formal suit is its stitch and fit. If the crease is too fitted or the stitch too elaborately done, it gives off the mannerism a formal suit demands, making the wearer look unfit and out of form. I might be a female, but I am one of those females who absolutely adorn befriending the Androgyny ways of style. Speaking about which, I have tried many a times to meet a brand or boutique that can magnify the feminine silhouette of me, while keeping up with the manly element of a tuxedo. Until now, I have been doped by many local boutiques who have failed in producing a suit that matches my expectations. Suit Fullstop is an e-commerce label that excels in every aspect of suiting up. Although it is a men’s trendsetting brand, the team did listen to my request on stitching up a tuxedo that really reflects my identity and gives me a great fit. So in case you’ve been wondering how an e-commerce boutique match your requirement of a designer formal suit, then you’ll be overwhelmed to know that the label does a fantastic job in delivering what we ask for. Worth mentioning that they have some physical stores in the country, established, as well! And to make the experience more unique and personal, Suit Fullstop offers ready-to-wear as well as customised formal suits to its customers. How does it work? Not only do they offer altering post delivery, their returns are easy to follow as well. But given their dedication towards delivering customisation that is up to the mark, their sure are any chances of needing any of the edits. Did I mention that they offer ‘Renting’ facility …
Continue readingHow many times do we come across overly-hyped handloom products in the market and complain about the fact that the sellers scrape out a big chunk of the production unit’s earnings, leaving the workers struggling to meet the ends? It’s not like we don’t try to look out for first hand purchases, but it often becomes difficult to meet the craftsmen, given their geographic locations. Keeping up with the national trend of the decade ‘Make In India’ and encouraging the consumers to do something for the needful not with charity, but with empowerment, INDIA MEETS INDIA is a collaborative that brings consumers and craftsmen together on one platform. Not only does this online portal tap into local regions across the nation to bring forward regional craftsmanship, but also engages with many NGOs to provide a livelihood to the families. Speaking about promoting the ‘Handlooms’ of India, India Meets India has collaborated with communities like Adults with Autism, Rural Migrant People, Geriatric Groups, etc to give them a platform to sell their traditional weaving cultures. Check out some of the ‘Must Have’ fashionable items one should definitely own from their catalogue : They also have a great variety of handbags, that match the versatility of Indian clothing. We featured one of their sling bags in our Chandi Chowk OOTD a while back. Overall, this is a one honest website that connects the artisans of …

Continue readingCall it an occasional adrenaline rush, but Indians feel the patriotic vibes real strong on four occassions – 1.Cricket Matches, 2. Amitabh Bachchan/Rajnikanth Movie Releases, 3. Republic Day & 4. Independence Day of India. Just like any other country in the world, Independence Day brings with it a lot of emotions, historical memories and a feeling of pride, a feeling of independence. No matter what the controversies say about the theories that lurk around ‘India’s Independence Day’, it never dulls the feeling of being an individual with rights to keep your wings rise high to eternity. Everyone expresses their happiness in their own terms. Some get up early in the morning to listen to what our Prime Minister has to say about the growth of India as a country, some gather around to hoist the national flag in their areas followed by cultural programs and treats, some prep up their manjaas and colourful kites to let their kites fly high and a micro-mini population like me take up some inspiration from the Indian flag and two leading freedom fighters of our nation to create a lookbook of #Fashion! Inspiration(s) 1. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi The father of our nation needs no introduction. He’s the one who moved an entire country with its Satyagrah Movement and always believed in unity over everything. Although, I couldn’t find a khadi kurti (in 48 hours), I did take up the Windsor style eyeglasses of Mr. Gandhi as an inspiration. This style was first introduced in 1880 England and was witnessed as a great trend all the way till the early 1920s 2. Jawaharlal Nehru He was the first prime minister of India, he was the one who introduced ‘Nehru Jacket’s with mandarin collars in India. Although he preferred the traditional Achkan-Sherwani combination on a …
