Classic Charlie Couture

July 8, 2012

Sir Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin is the world renowed comedian. If you haven’t heard of him, you don’t know a very important part of the history!! Well you all must be thinking why I am mentioning him here? He is a comedian alright, but his signature costume is something which has been imitated over decades. His legendary hat, large shoes, baggy pants and coat were the result of his own styling. This style was mentioned by him in his autobiography as well : “I wanted everything to be a contradiction: the pants baggy, the coat tight, the hat small and the shoes large … I added a small moustache, which, I reasoned, would add age without hiding my expression. I had no idea of the character. But the moment I was dressed, the clothes and the makeup made me feel the person he was. I began to know him, and by the time I walked on stage he was fully born.” – Charlie Chaplin This legendary attire really inspired me a lot. So after a long M.I.A. from outfit creations, I am back with a Laughter (not literally). And I present to you Chaplin Couture!! Color Blocked Shirt : Since we live in a colorful world, I thought I should give some color to this outfit. Black trouser with suspenders : This is a typical Charlie Chaplin piece. “Remember how he use to pull his suspenders to give a funny punch to his act?” Chanel Perfume No 5 : Now this perfume does not need any introduction. Not because of the fact its “Chanel” but the very fact that it has been one of the famous vintage perfumes till date. Mustache Ring : This ring is an accessory lover’s favorite. It somehow reminds me of Charlie Chaplin’s bushy mustache. Tanned Brogue Wedges : Brogues …

May 20, 2012

Well the WEDDING WEEK is on (although I really messed up the week) woops. But anyways, I wanted to bring up a post, where I will put my creative hat on, and provide you with 2 innovative ideas. Innovative ideas eh? Since wedding outfits are always the same. Kurtis, Lehengas or Sarees. And this mundane outfit ritual comes with a defined color code of pink, orange and red as well. I present to you 2 fusion outfits, which you can try on wearing this Wedding Season, and make those heads turn for sure. πŸ˜‰ This look is comfortable, for a tiredsome wedding day, sexy, colorful and innovative πŸ˜€ Instead of the statement neckpiece you can even go for gold coins South Indian style belt worked up around your waist. I have paired gold nailpolish, as it will make your hands absolutely stand out.  Keep the outfit summer friendly, and you won;t be worrying about the air conditioner not working. πŸ˜‰ Well if you still miss your traditional dress code and colors, I bring you the Saree + Peplum look. This look works pretty well if you want to keep it traditional yet innovative. You can drape the saree the way it is meant to be. Team the look with heavy Kundan or Uncut Diamond jewelry. May 1, 2012

As Barney from How I Met Your Mother says to SUIT UP, I thought why not turn a boring Suit into something of a fashion statement? πŸ˜‰ With a mix of grey, mint, fuchsia and emerald….I created this look : Sometimes breaking the monochrome and the obvious is fun….right? πŸ˜‰ What all I added? A Grey Plain Blazer (color suggested by Anika) Angelina Jolie’s famous Raw Cut Emerald Earrings Classic Diane Von Furstanberg Nude Pumps My favorite Bottega Veneta Fuchsia Clutch I created custom made mint trousers with a darker waist region to make it stand out from the white shirt. Monochrome Ensemble made Quirky!!

April 25, 2012

I gave a basic monochrome ensemble to my Kalapalette Facebook girls and asked them to suggest…HOW TO COMPLETE THIS BASIC OUTFIT!! While Amrita Balaji suggested to add Yellow Color to this outfit, Pallavi Pande suggested “WIGS” I had a deep thought about it and  VOILA We had a QUIRKY TWIST OF MONOCHROME ENSEMBLE!! Wanna know what all I chose? Yellow Bib Necklace by KATE SPADE This statement piece is alone good enough to hold up an neutral outfit. It brings contrast to an ensemble, and I thought why not use it to make the monochrome dress more SPRING PERFECT? πŸ˜€ Purple Wig This electric addition to more crazy style statement is something which will really make many heads turn. πŸ˜‰ If you fear getting your hair colored, why not try one of these amazing wigs, to look fashionable, with something unique and a new hairstyle to try on πŸ˜‰ Yellow Studs The key to wearing a statement piece is adding minimalism accessories or no accessories, so I have added a very basic stud earrings pair, to be a part of the look and not steal the limelight of the statement neck piece. πŸ˜€ Dark Blue Multifacet Ring by Lucas Jack London Totally loving this asymmetrical ring, quite artistic and elegant at the same time.Although to suit my outfit I changed the color of the glass from Blue to Purple. Jimmy Choo Yellow Wedges Well don’t need to say anything about the Jimmy Choo footwear, as they speak volumes about STYLE!! These wedges will help the long dress get some surface above floor, letting the person to walk freely!! Thought for a cause eh! Christian Louboutin Purple Suede Cube Wristlet Clutch If someone says FASHION HAS NO BOUNDARIES WHEN IT COMES TO CREATIVITY….I indeed agree!! This clutch is a bundle of joy and style statement in itself. This …

WEEK 1 : TANGERINE TANGO – “Custom made outFIT”

April 16, 2012

The name TANGERINE has been derived from an adjective meaning “Of or pertaining to, or native of Tangier, a seaport in Morocco, on the Strait of Gibraltar” and “a native of Tangier.” Zesty Tangerine as called in VOGUE …. This color surely is a head turner. This Summer Spring Collection has seen shades of Tangerine doing the rounds. This color not only makes a woman look ultra glamorous but also brings out the electric edge. Tangerine can dazzle up a monochrome or balance the 2nd current trend “NEONS” and still make a female shine high under the summer sun. So this week, I am dipping my fingers in color TANGERINE. This first post from the collection is my CUSTOM MADE OUTFIT SHOWCASING TANGERINE!! Since Peplum is HOT ITEM currently (will be in the coming series) I thought of giving an Orange Hue to it to bring out the vibrant plates. Second I teamed this OH-SO-VIBRANT Peplum skirt to a dark tone of Violet to balance the look, and highlight the skirt more. I added Kate Spade New York Statement Necklace to it, it is a wonderful necklace with pearls, yellow stones and gold chunky pieces. It goes really well on the Violet background. Since the Tangerine color is an electrifying color, I thought of pairing it up with the electrifying Alexander McQueen Geometric Pumps. The first time I saw the Temperly Golden Clutch I just fell in love with it.If you want to know visually the meaning of Glamorous….it is this clutch GLAMOROUS = TEMPERLY GOLDEN CLUTCH!! And not to forget the OH-SO-CUTE Risa’s Orange Octopus Cocktail Ring.Isn’t it just so cute? ^_^  So this is my TANGERINE OUTFIT. More coming this week on TANGERINE TANGO….. stay tuned πŸ˜‰ P.s. Your comments and critical analysis are valuable to me.Do post what you have to say about this post. …

GIMME GLITTER!!

January 4, 2012

You talk about what is Hot right now in the fashion world? And you will hear “NEONS” and “GLITTER” While my last post has been a fusion of Neon and Pastel.I thought of bringing up GLITTER next πŸ˜‰ This week we are talking about glitter.LOTS OF GLITTER!! Earlier glitter was only for glamour. If you do it right you hit the jackpot. But if you did an overdose of glitter…it was FLASHY! But now, no more glitter is enough.Don’t you think Kalapeeps? Well I thought of the same. But what a better way of presenting glitter than associating it someone who looks fab with oogles of glitter as well. I am talking about every lil girl’s love “BARBIE” If you add the right amount of glitter you have the right OOMPH factor. πŸ˜‰ Just to give an neutral element to the starry look I started with a basic blouse. SILK CREPE BLOUSE From La Garcone Then I added some shimmer to this basic blouse with dash of glitter shorts Sequinned Shorts From Topshop To give contrast to your orange blouse I have selected Fuchsia pumps to go with the look, along with some amazing accessories which you can check out in the LOOK above. πŸ˜‰ Untill next time….. Kalapalette KEEPS BREWING!! πŸ˜‰

Acids And Bases!!

December 28, 2011

Earlier only sophisticated color tones like Pastels used to be preferred when it came to fashion or dressing up.But now Fashion is a wild art, which can be in any shape, form and of course COLOR!!The hottest trend running presently is NEON! While I come across atleast one piece of Neon merchandise, I thought why not create a fusion the scientific way? What happens when ACIDIC NEON fuses with BASIC PASTEL? For you lovely peeps I have created 2 sets of ACID AND BASE = NEON AND PASTEL outfits…. 1.The tangy Electric Sunset Orange with Hint of Neon Green and the soothing element of JADE. 2.Hues of Acidic Neon Pink along with balancing and cooling effects of Fuchsia. So which one will you be going for? πŸ˜‰

December 20, 2011

A very very veryyyyyyy MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL THE LOVELY KALAPEEPS.A warm kudos to all. So sorry for the delay (again) for the *late* SUNDAY SURPRISE….but not to worry I have one more surprise lined up πŸ˜‰ Well like I mentioned before that this SUNDAY SURPRISE has theme of Christmas….but to make it more cute and merrier I have created a mix theme of : CHRISTMAS + MINNIE MOUSE Well since its christmas it’s got to be RED!! To start with I have created a custom made Red Minnie Mouse Inspired Mini Dress with polka and red!! Well I thought christmas is always “CUTE” but why we shouldn’t go with something “Ravishing” πŸ˜‰ So to team this up with, I just picked up one ornament which does not require any other collaboration : St. Erasmus Necklace Well he is the same guy who got famous when Michelle Obama wore his neck piece in a meet. Isn’t that super cool? ^_^ Anyways to continue with the theme look…. I randomly searched the MINNIE HEADBAND These are super cute already that I did not feel like re-touching them. πŸ˜€ Next since it is winter season, we ought to have stockings at least. And what better than having custom made Christmas special stockings? These stockings are ultra cute and perfect to go for Christmas themes.I have added my custom snowflake designs. ^_^ And last but not the least… I turned simple black boots into merry boots ^_^ I added colorful cotton balls to them. And we have for you the perfect sizzling RED and radiant MINNIE CHRISTMAS THEME DRESS ^_* Oh BTW….I have something “VERY STRONG” brewing up for all “INTERNATIONALLY” any guesses? ^_^
