Nazar by Indu Abbot | PUNE OOTD

August 1, 2016

Their is something about the Indian silhouettes that brings out the beautiful-best in every woman. The grace by which each fabric is sewn to create an ensemble so enchanting, that you expect nothing but a sophisticated royal rendezvous with your inner self. With that, if you amalgamate the decades worth of experience of an artist, the results are no less than a fairytale in itself! So when I got the tickets booked for a week long experiential to Pune, I had to pack something royal for a lookbook shoot on the ruins of once extravagant ‘Shanirwar Wada’. Truth be told, I got intrigued by the whole story of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and my inner Deepika Padukone screamed for a feature, while I was busy hopping properties and testing wine at Four Seasons Baramati (features coming up). And this is when I was introduced to the world of ‘Nazar’ a fashion label by veteran designer Ms. Indu Abbot; who started her journey in the year 1990. The experience of a designer is well proven by the fact that they know their customer’s requirement and what will compliment them right from the first look itself. So much so, that Ms. Indu was able to hand-pick this beautiful Anarkali from her latest collection, even when I wasn’t able to visit her studio at Patel Nagar (Delhi) since I was having a time crunch and had to take a flight in no more than 12 hours time. The golden gota-patti work, breath-easy fabric, voluminous yet settling silhouette and the oh-so-beautiful Sharara definitely stole my heart away. Not going to deny the fact that quite a few people complimented my look while I was trying to find a spot on a busy Sunday (that place is crowded all week long) to get clicked. What I really liked about this …

Powdered Formal | SUE MUE

May 10, 2016

Being geeky and chic is no rocket science. While I have heard my friends cribbing over wearing shades of grey under the ‘formals’ category, I’d like to differ from the module that many of us follow for a daily routine check. Of course many MNC’s tend to have strict colour codes to be worn to work (my sincere sympathy with you), others who happen to have the liberty of playing around with the colour palettes yet maintain a formal silhouette can work wonders with their ‘serious look’.

Bohemian Rhapsody in Mumbai – OOTD

March 15, 2016

If you happen to be in Mumbai during the ‘winter season’ (and you belong to a colder region like Delhi) then all you need to do on your visit is soak up the warmth of the sun, put on some anti-tan lotion and feel boho! That’s exactly what I did in the month of January, when I was flown down to Mumbai to attend the launch of OPPO F1 smartphone. Post the media event, I took a mini break to experience the hospitality of The Resort and to bask in the glory of a beautiful beach. The Resort is situated in front of the Aksa Beach, which is quaint and much cleaner as opposed to the super-crowded beach life of Southern Mumbai (note : Juhu Beach & Bandstand). Now beachwear in India is a little different from the western world. We don’t get to flaunt a bikini (Mumbai is not eligible for even a sarong) and so the beachwear comes down to the breezy silhouettes in light fabrics. Forever21 in India is filled with a section that only speaks about bohemian flavours. Right from the earthy colour palette, fringe décors to the tribal embroidery and prints; one can find a variety of summer-friendly designs at F21. This Georgette midi dress in crisp white with minimal thread work is apt to keep the sweat away and makes one feel at leisure. So to keep up with my Bohemian spirit, I thought of doing an OOTD post and pose for the camera right on the Aksa Beach. Usually I either wrap up my hair in a bun, but for this added boho flavour, I decided to braid down my tresses in fine gypsy style. Now the look works apt in case you have long tresses, a beach to hit and don’t want the …

Noir Mode Sleek – Benetton Style

December 22, 2014

What are you planning to wear for the New Year’s eve party? The same old LBD or that shimmer sequence pallazo-crop top number? It all seems fair but only if we are talking about the parties down southern India and the likes. Because Delhi winters are in no mood of gifting us any relief from the chills.  As the NY15 is right round the corner, it will be a task to mix-match prints, colors and silhouettes on such a short notice. Your safest bet? Dig in the old ways! A.k.a. monochrome style. Nope, not talking about the LDB. Let’s stretch it up till the ankles and call dibs on a matchy white crop jacket, shall we? One of the most comfy yet classy outfits that I wore during the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Summer Spring 2015 (and planning to wear for the New Year’s too) was a solid combination of black & white. Take a look!  Earrings – Zotiqq How I wore it for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week? Why so serious? Work Style with Benetton

December 20, 2014

We all literally dread our way up every morning to get ready and go to work. I mean, who doesn’t like staying in the pajamas all day long and curl up beneath the soft warm quilts? But for those who even prefer keeping their pajamas stylish (and in trend), they don’t compromise on the work-look even a percent.  Now that the winters are here, layering becomes a must-do for any occasion. Layering up for work? No, I don’t mean the usual over-sized knitwear comforted under an equally over-sized long coat and a muffler wrapped around the lengths of your neck. Yikes! Presenting to you a neat and classy look to stay stylish and stay warm this Autumn-Winter season. Jacket, Blouse, Jeans, Belt & Boots – United Colors of Benetton Currently I am obsessing over this mesh black jacket and have worn it from a meeting to the cocktail evening as well. Print on Print Trend | United Colors of Benetton AW’14

December 1, 2014

Trends are like the major highlights of this fashion industry. With each season comes the trends. Some of them stay for a long time, while some dissolve within weeks. However, their are certain trends that tend to repeat; season after season. Take for instance, the Print on Print Trend. Source : Benetton.com Now a lot of fashion experts across the globe try to set some rules for this particular trend. But my personal opinion says that if it looks good overall, their ain’t no particular rule that needs to be followed. After all, it’s not mathematical mind-boggling question. Source : Benetton.com United Colors of Benetton has come up an array of prints for this Autumn Winter Season. For those who have been associated with United Colors of Benetton for long know, that their signature style is more on the basic lines with the emphasis on solid shades. Well, you’ll be surprised to learn about the prints – series that have launched this time. From the obvious floral prints to military prints, they have also taken over digital photograph prints and font-style prints for their Autumn Winter collection. Now before I show you how United Colors of Benetton AW’14 became my inspiration to try this print on, check out the basic rules tips on how to decode this fun fashion trend. TIPS TO DECODE PRINT-ON-PRINT TREND 1. Match the colors – Something that I have incorporated in my #LOTD too. While matching the prints can come out a bit too loud for most occasions, matching the color palette will tone down the double prints ; bringing the two style into one perfect match. 2. Break up the monotony with solids – Something that is a must for this trend. In order to bring in more definition, throw in a matching solid …

OOTD – American Swan AW’13/14

January 15, 2014

For those who have been following Kalapalette, must have seen their SS’13 collection feature. Casual, comfortable and chic. American Swan apparel and accessories *proudly* shouts that out loud! Just like their SS’13 collection, the winter stock also followed a classy color palette. The apparels are not just stylish, but equally warm and apt for at least Delhi winters. What I really like about American Swan, is the fact that they do not superimpose their label on the collection.  They have a vast variety of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories to choose from, and have an equally pleasing delivery system. What is Anushri wearing? Bomber jackets can never go out fashion. If Coco Chanel could swear by that, why can’t we? To balance the pop of Maroon Sweat Shirt, I have chosen a Navy Blue Jacket.  Since winters are all about layering, you need to get each layer right. What could possibly compliment both navy blue and maroon; yet do not steal the spotlight. I chose the Sky blue trousers as the best bet. The look was completed with a pair of tan sneakers, which are sporty and give a definite androgynous feel to the overall casual theme.
