Summer Dress Affair with VAJOR

April 17, 2017

Summer Street Style essentials consist of cool colour palettes, comfortable silhouettes and Bohemian or Kitschy styles! While I adore the latter, my vibes are always strong towards a Bohemian take on summer trends. Their is something about the Rastafarian trend that makes it worth styling up season after season. And that’s the reason why I have partnered with Vajor.com, yet again, to bring about a ‘Street style OOTD’ that speaks volumes about the Boho style with just the right electric zest of Afghani accessories and comfort of tennis shoes for the woman of free spirit. I did another version of Summer Street Style with Vajor.com recently, when I wore a white embroidered shirt from their latest catalogue at the Amazon India Fashion Week. That was the first time I wore something from Vajor.com and absolutely fell in love with the brand. Not only do they use finest of the fabrics and the trendiest of designs, the fit is so comfortable yet complimenting, that even plus size women can flaunt Vajor designs with elan! Speaking about the dress that I am wearing in this OOTD, it’s White & Grey Embroidered Dress that is apt for a comfortable day out. The fabric used is Printed Rayon Twill with Modal lining. For a finer fit, the dress comes with a back zipper and A-Line fit. What I really liked about the silhouette was the boat neck style that complimented my face and statement earrings well. The fit is great, silhouettes comfortable, structured to fit the needs, subtle embroidery with marble faux stone embellishments for added drama and a colour palette mix of white and grey that suits the otherwise hot weather of Northern India. The dress also comes with a Tie-up Braided waist belt which I didn’t use to celebrate the free-flowing yet structured …

Androgyny with Suit Fullstop

February 17, 2017

I am always fascinated by the structured make of a double-breasted ebony tuxedo. What really makes and breaks a formal suit is its stitch and fit. If the crease is too fitted or the stitch too elaborately done, it gives off the mannerism a formal suit demands, making the wearer look unfit and out of form. I might be a female, but I am one of those females who absolutely adorn befriending the Androgyny ways of style. Speaking about which, I have tried many a times to meet a brand or boutique that can magnify the feminine silhouette of me, while keeping up with the manly element of a tuxedo. Until now, I have been doped by many local boutiques who have failed in producing a suit that matches my expectations. Suit Fullstop is an e-commerce label that excels in every aspect of suiting up. Although it is a men’s trendsetting brand, the team did listen to my request on stitching up a tuxedo that really reflects my identity and gives me a great fit. So in case you’ve been wondering how an e-commerce boutique match your requirement of a designer formal suit, then you’ll be overwhelmed to know that the label does a fantastic job in delivering what we ask for. Worth mentioning that they have some physical stores in the country, established, as well! And to make the experience more unique and personal, Suit Fullstop offers ready-to-wear as well as customised formal suits to its customers. How does it work? Not only do they offer altering post delivery, their returns are easy to follow as well. But given their dedication towards delivering customisation that is up to the mark, their sure are any chances of needing any of the edits. Did I mention that they offer ‘Renting’ facility …

#BeautyExperts – Tantrums Makeup Studio

December 13, 2016

Every time the thought of getting a makeover done from a salon or studio pops up in my head, all I can think of is how the artist will ruin my natural instinct and make me look like Cruella-de-vil. It takes a great deal and luck to find professionals who know the requirement of your skin, your appearance and your personal style. Picking up a makeup brush and simply buffing through an array of NYX or Sephora hauls is an easy-peasy, but it takes a great deal towards brushing off the right colour tone and touches that will make you look like a million bucks! Tantrums Makeup Studio is a venture by Ratika Vaish and Mayank who deliver their passion for beauty across many platforms and among a rich clientele overseas. Based out of East Patel Nagar, their venture is growing immensely and they are now opening up branches across Delhi to expand their wings. For the recently concluded season of Amazon India Fashion Week, I collaborated with this lovely team who drove down all the way from Patel Nagar to my residence to transform me into a ‘Desi Diva’ for Day 3 of AIFWSS17. When it comes to makeup, Ratika treats the requirements of her clients with great zeal. She patiently listened to my perspective and vision of the makeup I’d like to go for. Ratika interacted with me, providing her inputs on the latest makeup trends and helped me decode the makeup that will compliment my Saree-Jacket amalgamation for the fashion week. My initial instinct was to go for smoky eyes, but she suggested that I go for more subtle and shimmerier eye makeup to compliment my Kantha embroidered saree. Her ideology comes from her experience working with A-list clients nationally and internationally. Although her setup is in …

Tribute to India Independence Day

August 15, 2016

Call it an occasional adrenaline rush, but Indians feel the patriotic vibes real strong on four occassions – 1.Cricket Matches, 2. Amitabh Bachchan/Rajnikanth Movie Releases, 3. Republic Day & 4. Independence Day of India.   Just like any other country in the world, Independence Day brings with it a lot of emotions, historical memories and a feeling of pride, a feeling of independence. No matter what the controversies say about the theories that lurk around ‘India’s Independence Day’, it never dulls the feeling of being an individual with rights to keep your wings rise high to eternity. Everyone expresses their happiness in their own terms. Some get up early in the morning to listen to what our Prime Minister has to say about the growth of India as a country, some gather around to hoist the national flag in their areas followed by cultural programs and treats, some prep up their manjaas and colourful kites to let their kites fly high and a micro-mini population like me take up some inspiration from the Indian flag and two leading freedom fighters of our nation to create a lookbook of #Fashion!   Inspiration(s) 1. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi The father of our nation needs no introduction. He’s the one who moved an entire country with its Satyagrah Movement and always believed in unity over everything. Although, I couldn’t find a khadi kurti (in 48 hours), I did take up the Windsor style eyeglasses of Mr. Gandhi as an inspiration. This style was first introduced in 1880 England and was witnessed as a great trend all the way till the early 1920s 2. Jawaharlal Nehru He was the first prime minister of India, he was the one who introduced ‘Nehru Jacket’s with mandarin collars in India. Although he preferred the traditional Achkan-Sherwani combination on a …

Nazar by Indu Abbot | PUNE OOTD

August 1, 2016

Their is something about the Indian silhouettes that brings out the beautiful-best in every woman. The grace by which each fabric is sewn to create an ensemble so enchanting, that you expect nothing but a sophisticated royal rendezvous with your inner self. With that, if you amalgamate the decades worth of experience of an artist, the results are no less than a fairytale in itself! So when I got the tickets booked for a week long experiential to Pune, I had to pack something royal for a lookbook shoot on the ruins of once extravagant ‘Shanirwar Wada’. Truth be told, I got intrigued by the whole story of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and my inner Deepika Padukone screamed for a feature, while I was busy hopping properties and testing wine at Four Seasons Baramati (features coming up). And this is when I was introduced to the world of ‘Nazar’ a fashion label by veteran designer Ms. Indu Abbot; who started her journey in the year 1990. The experience of a designer is well proven by the fact that they know their customer’s requirement and what will compliment them right from the first look itself. So much so, that Ms. Indu was able to hand-pick this beautiful Anarkali from her latest collection, even when I wasn’t able to visit her studio at Patel Nagar (Delhi) since I was having a time crunch and had to take a flight in no more than 12 hours time. The golden gota-patti work, breath-easy fabric, voluminous yet settling silhouette and the oh-so-beautiful Sharara definitely stole my heart away. Not going to deny the fact that quite a few people complimented my look while I was trying to find a spot on a busy Sunday (that place is crowded all week long) to get clicked. What I really liked about this …

The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine

May 24, 2016

The first time I laid my eyes on The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine parfum range, I knew that this fragrance edition needs to be added to my personal collection asap! I have always preferred floral fragrances over fruity scents and this one was an instant hit with me. Boxed in a very artistic packaging, the Indian-ness of this edition reflects well right from treating your eyes to your smelling senses! As per the older reviews available online, the packaging was very different which has been customised and restocked on the extensive demand of the product. What’s The Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine? Since ancient times, Indian women have used jasmine flowers to perfume and adorn their hair. Jasmine’s small, fine flower reveals a strong scent that reaches its most powerful intensity at night. In India, we extracted Jasmine essence from hundreds of freshly-picked flowers to compose a unique warm and intensely heady white floral fragrance at heart deepened by notes of sandalwood and vanilla. My Experience Hands down, I have been sold on the idea of Mughal inspired Jasmine fragrance by The Body Shop. Having been born and brought up in Delhi, I have always had a soft corner for everything Mughal. The wild bushes of Jasmine flowers are spread across the capital city of India and are loved and enjoyed by every resident of the city, each summer! Loved the Orange against a monochrome Mehendi design packaging of this one. The actual EDT bottle is a glass bottle and has has an old fashion parfum silhouette to match the Mughal feel of it. The fragrance is of medium strength with a base tone of course being the jasmine flower. The top and medium notes consist of a strong tangerine hint which evolves from the concoction of orange, sandalwood, musk and vanilla fragrances. I can …

Powdered Formal | SUE MUE

May 10, 2016

Being geeky and chic is no rocket science. While I have heard my friends cribbing over wearing shades of grey under the ‘formals’ category, I’d like to differ from the module that many of us follow for a daily routine check. Of course many MNC’s tend to have strict colour codes to be worn to work (my sincere sympathy with you), others who happen to have the liberty of playing around with the colour palettes yet maintain a formal silhouette can work wonders with their ‘serious look’.

Bohemian Rhapsody in Mumbai – OOTD

March 15, 2016

If you happen to be in Mumbai during the ‘winter season’ (and you belong to a colder region like Delhi) then all you need to do on your visit is soak up the warmth of the sun, put on some anti-tan lotion and feel boho! That’s exactly what I did in the month of January, when I was flown down to Mumbai to attend the launch of OPPO F1 smartphone. Post the media event, I took a mini break to experience the hospitality of The Resort and to bask in the glory of a beautiful beach. The Resort is situated in front of the Aksa Beach, which is quaint and much cleaner as opposed to the super-crowded beach life of Southern Mumbai (note : Juhu Beach & Bandstand). Now beachwear in India is a little different from the western world. We don’t get to flaunt a bikini (Mumbai is not eligible for even a sarong) and so the beachwear comes down to the breezy silhouettes in light fabrics. Forever21 in India is filled with a section that only speaks about bohemian flavours. Right from the earthy colour palette, fringe décors to the tribal embroidery and prints; one can find a variety of summer-friendly designs at F21. This Georgette midi dress in crisp white with minimal thread work is apt to keep the sweat away and makes one feel at leisure. So to keep up with my Bohemian spirit, I thought of doing an OOTD post and pose for the camera right on the Aksa Beach. Usually I either wrap up my hair in a bun, but for this added boho flavour, I decided to braid down my tresses in fine gypsy style. Now the look works apt in case you have long tresses, a beach to hit and don’t want the …

Benetton Winter 2015 Affair

November 18, 2015

Probably a little late to say that we are slowing crawling into the clench of frost-biting winters, but a Fall 2015 OOTD post had to happen! Being a summer baby (Yes! I hate the winter blues and prefer sunny side up any time), I am still trying to soak in as much summer warmth as possible. Out for my regular working day, I visited the shopping hub of Saket (Delhi) recently. While wandering through the shopping joints of the mall, I visited the mansion of signature Polo shirts and other flirty yet sporty silhouettes – Benetton and boy! I was in for a treat. United Colors of Benetton has, since the last few seasons, ventured into the serious business of fashion; with collections designed around current market trends and interests of the fashionistas; worldwide. This year too, for their Fall/Winter 2015 collection, the brand has presented a diverse range of western wear that advances from the basics to party, formal and casual wear. Having featured the Benetton Menswear 2015 Collection earlier, it was time for me to dress-up in ‘UCB’ tags and strut around the waiting lawns of Select Citywalk. Take a look at what I wore! First things first, I instantly fell in love with this colour blocked shirt from their Fall 2015. I mean, doesn’t it remind you of Picasso and his affair with colours?   I had been literally on hunt out for the perfect pair of reflector sunnies and this one from the brand just wooed me away! If you are wondering how come I managed to work up some make up, then well, it was the result of my meet with Sonic Sarwate of M.A.C. Psst have you checked out the video, yet? Here’s the LINK. I have a few big luggage bags from the brand and this time …
