Style Partners – Tacfab Fashions

October 31, 2017

Fashion Weeks are those two weeks in a year when the fashion enthusiasts get into their best of attires, strutting their way through the crowd of those who cheer tassels and bomber jackets more than an elementary chaos of monochrome mundaneness that otherwise consumes us all. While we all wish to be in our best of attires 365 days of the month, these few select days are when we give in our 100% to look the best versions of ourselves. Keeping up with the requirements, and given the 2nd yearly season of the fashion week commences during the Indian festive season, I collaborated with Tacfab Fashions to be my style partners for one of the days of the fashion week. Tacfab Fashions Pvt. Ltd. operates under the parent company, Sahib Textiles, which is a 65 years old textiles house. They are into wholesale dress material and fabric manufacturing business since 1947. Tacfab specialises in ready-to-stitch, salwar kameez sets and dress material fabrics that infuse the latest trends with the ethnic silhouettes flawlessly. After spending an hour with the brilliant team of Tacfab Kamla Nagar and trying out an array of dresses, anarkalis, pakistani palazzo-kurti sets and some really amazing off-the-runway fusion dresses, I picked up this really vibrant Anarkali to wear to the fashion week. Their are so many things that I loved about this look. 1stly, the ombre dye-design of the Anarkali definitely anted up the design quotient manifolds. The fitting was absolutely complimenting around the torso with a voluminous skirt falling below the waist to floor lengths for added drama. The side slit of the Anarkali made me feel like the Indian Angelina Jolie at times (no kidding) while the hassled and embellished dupatta turned out to be the star of the overall look. The best part about …

Bohemian Rhapsody in Mumbai – OOTD

March 15, 2016

If you happen to be in Mumbai during the ‘winter season’ (and you belong to a colder region like Delhi) then all you need to do on your visit is soak up the warmth of the sun, put on some anti-tan lotion and feel boho! That’s exactly what I did in the month of January, when I was flown down to Mumbai to attend the launch of OPPO F1 smartphone. Post the media event, I took a mini break to experience the hospitality of The Resort and to bask in the glory of a beautiful beach. The Resort is situated in front of the Aksa Beach, which is quaint and much cleaner as opposed to the super-crowded beach life of Southern Mumbai (note : Juhu Beach & Bandstand). Now beachwear in India is a little different from the western world. We don’t get to flaunt a bikini (Mumbai is not eligible for even a sarong) and so the beachwear comes down to the breezy silhouettes in light fabrics. Forever21 in India is filled with a section that only speaks about bohemian flavours. Right from the earthy colour palette, fringe décors to the tribal embroidery and prints; one can find a variety of summer-friendly designs at F21. This Georgette midi dress in crisp white with minimal thread work is apt to keep the sweat away and makes one feel at leisure. So to keep up with my Bohemian spirit, I thought of doing an OOTD post and pose for the camera right on the Aksa Beach. Usually I either wrap up my hair in a bun, but for this added boho flavour, I decided to braid down my tresses in fine gypsy style. Now the look works apt in case you have long tresses, a beach to hit and don’t want the …

#MondaySaves – SALE Must Have Jackets

January 18, 2016

The comfort of having e-commerce in our lives has turned the entire shopping experience into one happy hobby time. If not for our cravings to add on some more clothing to our wardrobes, the e-commerce round the year sales are worth surfing through their thousands of collections; every now and then. Gone are the days when Sale season only meant the ‘end of season’ discounts galore. Now everyday is a discount sale on the web world. And now, when the cold breeze is wearing off slowly, giving way to the spring season, the end of season sale too can be seen reflecting on these .COMS! With massive discount festivals running a 3-day gala affair, with cut-offs as high as 80%, the shopping therapy just can’t get any better than that. How To Shop Smart Sale shopping might seem like a genuine blessing, but it is more a strategically planned marketing plan that the e-commerce giants milk on. Not saying that it’s bad for our health, but if you ain’t a smart shopper, you might get doped into buying something which is on ‘discount’ for almost the same amount as its actual costing. The idea is to analyse your cart carefully and ask yourself ‘Is this jacket worth spending INR XXX on?’. Don’t go by the discount cut only, but the actual worth of spending a few bucks on something which might actually look like a few pennies instead. Current Stocking Scheme I am one of those buyers who often check out the physical stores for their end of season sales, so as to invest in off season clothes that are worth a buy, will be in trend and will definitely last worth the money spent on them. Even if we are slowly approaching the spring season, we still have a …

Amazon India Must Have Ft. Festive Look

October 10, 2015

Ever since Amazon India has come into existence, online shopping experience has become a serious trend in the country. Country like India, where buying in bulk or buying in sale has always been a popular concept, is now well equipped with the modern amenities of a leisure lifestyle. Gone are the days when we used to step out in scorching sunlight, planning out days/months in advance, what we will wear for the festive celebrations. Now that the festivals are lined up closely in order (Starting this month), I had to give into the festive mood and feature something that every desi girl is currently doing – setting a look rack for the festivities. When Amazon India Fashion team decided to send across some love from their #MustHaveFashion category, I was instantly able to relate the colours and texture of the product to this celebratory season. Amazon India sent across a lovely structured Da Milano bag, which has been sophisticatedly textured on a pop of red tone to set the mood. The Ensemble Giving into the breezy autumn season, I picked up the kurti from a set of two that I purchased a couple of months back from Myntra. Breaking the monotony of the yellow printed kurti, I added a darker tone of palazzo pants that I thrifted from the locals of Delhi. The Print Festive season in India means embroidery and prints. Mostly, derived from the middle eastern influence, Paisley design is very famous in traditional Indian forms. One can opt for such detailed prints or keep it simple with gota patti or add dollops of embroidery to please the bling-struck festive feel. The Hand Bag Star of this outfit post is this Da Milano structured hand-bag. Like I had mentioned earlier too, I absolutely love the rich red colour of …

What is her everyday style running through meetings and travelling to channel her wedding décor magic, nationally? We, for our Locker Style diaries #2 presents to you a sneak peak into her closet. Take a look! Photographs courtesy – Faizan Patel Photography Follow Anika Dhawan’s Label – Rani Pink Tell us something about your knack for creativity. Indian Fashion Trends That Made History

August 15, 2015

Happy Independence Day to all my ‘Desi Swaggers’! Hope you’ve all had an inspiring start of the day with a power packed speech by Mr. Modi over a cup of your hot Darjeeling Tea. The history of our country’s Independence is truly remarkable. Although we can never analyse the depth of struggle that our heroes put into giving us a free world that we live in now, such notable days are still worthy of paying tribute to our heroes and remembering them for their work and sacrifices. Their are several ways in which Indians celebrate the Independence Day. While some opt to fill their social media feeds with inspiring posts, few celebrate the day by watching historic movies over a palette of Indian cuisines; and then their are some who put up their best ethnic avatar to add on to the celebrations. Everything tangerine, green and white is their motto. Well, I too have been shuffling through my wardrobe, trying to pick the right trio coloured #ootd for the day. But don’t you think the same trio style every independence day has become a bit mundane? Well, for those who are feeling patriotic and are looking at adopting it to their personal style, how about a throwback to our Indian history and the styles of our great heroes? Fashion is a piece of art that too strives on inspiration that can float in from almost anywhere. On the occasion of India’s 69th Independence Day, presenting to you a list of some remarkable trends that were sworn in as a signature by our great Indian Heroes. Take a look! THE GANDHIAN GLASSES The father of our nation was known for his khadi drapes, a walking stick in hand, kolhapuri flat chappals and his famous round reading glasses. The simplicity of these wired frames were soon taken over …

Print 2.0 – The French Connection India Way {Collection Review}

July 1, 2014

Mix matching colors, fabrics and playing fusion with silhouettes is a common story. But what becomes experimental is when you try to throw a print on another print. Yes, I am talking about the crazy amalgamation of say, Houndstooth over Gingham print. How’s that for an inspiration? Having been following up on French Connection India collection for over 3 years now, I had to checkout their SS’14 collection too. Although, a little late from the general standards of featuring an SS’13 collection (now that the monsoon is coming), I had to share what I found in French Connection India’s SS’14 collection. Being an international brand, French Connection makes sure to include the current trend in their collection, like always! Just like last year’s SS’13 collection saw lots of neon and solid palette love, this year adapted the international runway trend of Print on Print. Not just prints, but French Connection has showcased a line of breezy summer fabrics, quirky prints and a dash of glitter too. Take a look at the collection! With a collection so artistic, I had to create a few looks with em! So much to choose, experiment and mix-match with, I had a great time putting up the following 4 looks for all my readers. Check them out. Print on Print Rules 1. Always match the solid tones of two prints. Eg. A black print on white solid base will always go with a white print on a black solid base. 2. Neutral print goes with a colorful print. 3. Mix prints in similar color family. 4. Same patter can be matched in different scales/print sizes. 5. Add a solid element to break up the prints. Now that you have enough reasons to try out this fun trend, go ahead and visit your nearest French Connection …
