While many people consider Mumbai as an extremely busy and noisy city, the land of Bollywood has an otherwise peaceful side to it as well. Over the years, I have visited/stayed in Mumbai many times, but have never experienced a more relaxed and serene part of Mumbai till now. If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that I recently visited Mumbai to attend an event and soak under the Mumbai’s winter sun. And while I was at it, The Resort Mumbai’s team invited me over to conclude my travel on a ‘vacation mode’.

The Resort is situated amidst private properties of Malad West, popularly known as The Madh Island. The beauty of this resort is its location, which is parallel to the famous Aksha Beach.

The entire property is sea facing, with a beautiful swimming pool and other entertainment amenities to make the stay purely coastal. This property has been certified by the Ministry of Tourism, India and also holds the certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor (Year 2013).

ACCOMMODATION

They offer a variety of accommodation facilities to suit each pocket. Their Standard Rooms face the lawns while their Deluxe Rooms are all sea & pool facing. Each Deluxe Room comes with a private balcony wherein families and couples can sip some refreshing drinks overlooking the sun set. Each room comes with basic amenities and also offer in-room facilities for a relaxed retreat.

Apart from their economical rooms, The Resort also offers Duplex Villa which includes 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, a private jacuzzi and sauna setup. The villa also has a private lawn and terrace which is great for family get-together and marriage functions.

Their most exclusive accommodation comprises of their 2 suites that are situated on the highest floors of the property. Each suit includes a master bedroom, a private balcony and a sun-deck.

ENTERTAINMENT

The swimming pool is open for guests all day long, and comes with their pool-side dining facility which goes on till 6 PM; while the sun sets. The resort also offers a quite walk to the beach for its members, which connects the pool and restaurants; in case someone feels like grabbing a quick bite or taking a dip in the pool.

Being a family friendly resort, the property offers baby sitting services. For couples who are looking an unwinding, they have the spa facility, a bar, health club, gymnasium and a beauty salon as well! And for companies who are looking at holding destination conferences, The Resort offers business centres and conference halls which can host a wide group of people at a time.

DINING

If you are a foodie, then you won’t be disappointed as The Resort has an array of Indian and Continental cuisines to offer. Of course their speciality lies in preparing some mouthwatering sea food platters, but their international preparations are spot on as well! I tried from their soothing Thai Curry – Rice combo to a freshly prepared pasta dish called ‘Tagliatelli Neapolitaine’ and every dish was a charm in itself.

The Resort has 1 restaurant, 1 coffee shop, 1 bar and 1 poolside eating venues that are open throughout the day.

HIGH TIDE RESTAURANT

This restaurant is the star of this property. Overlooking the pool and the beach, it has a capacity of hosting 92 guests at a time. The restaurant is situated right next to the reception area and offers a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea. It is a multi-cuisine restaurant which offers both Buffet and A la carte menu.

Currently, they are promoting their Hi-5 Sunday Brunch which will be offered throughout the month of February. The brunch menu will include Chef Pawan Kumar Lal’s special menu, consisting of soups, salads, sea food appetizers, an array of grills, delectable vegetarian dishes and lip-smacking sweet bakes in their dessert section. The brunch will also include Indian Champagne and will also be offering other liquors on request.

BAY-WATCH COFFEE SHOP

This coffee shop is open 24 hours, for travellers and offers quick bites and a variety of drinks that can be enjoyed with some breathtaking views of the sea.

UPPER DECK BAR

For those who like some hard drinks on the rock, The Resort offers a variety of rich alcohol along with the chef’s signature list of cocktails. The bar holds the capacity of seating 32 people at a time and offer wines, sprits, cocktails and cigars with a backdrop of some lounge music. While I sipped on an endless supply of Pina Coladas, I would also like to recommend their Deep Sea Diving cocktail which comes with volumes of zesty flavours. The bar is functional between 12PM to 11PM.

DESTINATION WEDDING

Well, if you are looking for a destination wedding experience, then The Resort is the place to be at. The property is spacious, with green lawns, Aksa Beach, offers authentic food choices and can host 2000 guests for wedding parties. The Resort is also well equipped with parking facilities, offers event management and have chefs skilled to prepare traditional Jain, Gujarati, Punjabi, Goan and Continental Food.

VERDICT

This resort is perfect to hold business meets or even for a weekend gateaway. The busy Mumbaikars can plan out a weekend stay to rejuvenate from the hustle bustle of the city life, yet save a lot of time in travelling to a different destination. The Resort is family friendly, offers an array of engaging options for kids and is definitely a romantic place to dine and stay at with your loved one. I will also recommend this place for its serenity, natural beauty and the beach facing architecture. Not to forget the lip-smacking food one can have at their restaurant.

If you would like to try something out-of-the-box then ask the server to serve you something from the ‘Chef’s Special’ menu. Mr. Pawan definitely knows how to pamper the foodies with their delectable presentations!
